I watched TAV play the MAVS. TAV won pretty easily. Clothier (Florida State) and Myers (Washington State) were pretty dominate. Near as I could tell they combined for 20 kills on 22 swings. Each 10-11 - although Clothier had one hitting error. That kind of production from the middles is pretty incredible - especially considering they went up against a couple premium middles for the MAVS. Wenaas 'only' 8 kills on 15 swings and stuff blocked twice. Morgan Christon didn't play - looks like she is injured.
Cassady (Tulsa) and Bichelmeyer (Rice) each had 6 kills for the MAVS on 16 and 13 attempts. Tillman (Louisville) and Crawford (Kansas) each with 3 kills.

I predict either Legacy or TIV get eliminated in the Challenge Bracket, either by each other or by Coast. Good call - Coast just bounced Legacy in the challenge bracket.

Can we call you Nostradamus?
Legacy just lost to Coast.
This tourney is wide open.

Gold Bracket set for tomorrow. 3 from California and Texas and 1 from Minnesota & Arizona. Tournament seed in front of team.
#15 COAST - CA #7 TAV - TX
COAST has been playing well, but TAV is prepvolleyball's #5 team and has the best point differential in the tournament thus far. TAV should be favored.
#3 Arizona Storm - AZ #12 Skyline - TX
Skyline narrowly beat IowaPowerplex. Arizona Storm has the better point differential, the better ranking from Prepvolleyball and the better black ink. AZ Storm favored.
14. FORZA - CA 21. SG Elite - CA
FORZA was a surprising winner of Pool 3 by beating Arizona Storm in 3 sets. But FORZA was outscored in pool play and took 3 sets to be Top Select who really hadn't played very well this weekend. SG Elite has been playing better, but they are by far the most surprising team still alive in terms of PV ranking. I have not idea who is favored at this point - the winner will be the underdog team left. PV rankings would have FORZA has the favorite.
23. MN Select - MN 2. TIV - TX
Finally, the only two teams that haven't lost a match are facing off in the quarterfinals. TIV is going to be a huge favorite.

I am really impressed with MN Select's showing. They have one player going to an elite D1 volleyball program (next fall, that is). UNI is no slouch and they do have three kids going to Concordia-St. Paul, but -- on paper -- this really strikes me as a team that is massively overachieving.
Good for them. Hope they have a great day tomorrow.

I’ve watched about 5 hours on various show courts between yesterday and today. NOBODY has “wowed” me.

The legacy vs coast match was really surprising. 6 or so bad errors down the stretch between the 2 teams. Legacy could not connect with middles going off 2 feet.
The skyline setter is a lot of fun to watch. Great athleticism, left, and moves the ball around very well. They unfortunately only have one big time hitter, but they’ve been entertaining

I'm being generous with the definition to include Wisconsin, too. Let's say consistent top 20 program. The point is that most of the top club teams have more of those players. MN Select often does.

Minnesota Select had a unique approach to their team this year for 18U. They had one roster of 19 players and two teams (18-1 and 18-2). Sounds like they operated as one team in terms of practice and training and shuffled back and forth players between the two teams (I don't to what extent they ended up doing this). In theory, they were tinkering with their 18-1 roster all year kind of like a HS varsity and JV teams.

Here are the senior aces for the final 8 teams. I have included Wenaas and Wolf who are certainly going to be a senior ace in future years.
COAST (1) Peyton Wilhite - Georgetown
TAV (4) Morgan Christon - Kansas McKenzie Nichols - TCU Emma Clothier - Florida State Jenna Wenaas - Minnesota (2020)
Arizona Storm (3) Kate Grimmer - BYU Shannon Shields - Louisville Nicole Hoff - Long Beach State
Minnesota Select (2) Isabella Ashburn - Wisconsin Anna Wolf - Minnesota (2021)
TIV (4) Molly Phillips - Texas Audrey Nails - TCU Azhani Tealer - Kentucky Alli Wells - Alabama
FORZA (1) Jordyn Amoy - Cal Poly

Here are the honorable mentions for 2019 of the 8 teams. I haven't looked a SG Elite so I could be missing someone from them:
COAST (3) Karenna Wurl - North Carolina Athena Leota - Colgate Macall Peed - Penn State
TAV (3) Mykayla Myers - Washington State Ciera Hecht - Texas A&M Symone Wesley - Houston
Arizona Storm (4) Lauren Ohlinger - Boise State Sedona Sherman - Pacific Kylee Stokes - South Carolina Jazmyn Wheeler - Uncommitted
TIV (3) Elizabeth Carroll - Northeastern Londyn Gray - Georgia Emily Merrick - Tennessee
MN Select (3) Jasmine Mulvihill - Concordia University- St. Paul Emma Schmidt - Northern Iowa Maizy Jackson - Northern Iowa
Dallas Skyline (2) Nicole Anderson - Wichita State Madison Waters - Cincinnati
Based on these two lists - that is why I think TIV, TAV and Arizona Storm are the favorites. COAST and Minnesota Select are solid, but have a tough path.
