Watched the AZ Storm vs Skyline was really impressed with AZ especially the libero and setter. The coaches however annoyed me. I thought the rule was only 1 coach was allowed up? Both coaches were continually up and coaching.

For the Gold Bracket 9 CT: Skyline vs. Arizona Storm Ct 1 FORZA vs. SG Elite Ct 2 Semifinals are not being streamed Finals at 1:30 Ct 1 How does USA VB so consistently get things wrong... Hey we have a bazillion camera's....let's make sure the 18 open Semi final isn't streamed.

Is this a one and done type year for TIV, in terms of competitiveness in open?

Right. That's the one player going to an elite D1 volleyball program. UNI isn't elite, although pretty good. I'm being generous with the definition to include Wisconsin, too. Let's say consistent top 20 program. The point is that most of the top club teams have more of those players. MN Select often does. Minnesota Select had a unique approach to their team this year for 18U. They had one roster of 19 players and two teams (18-1 and 18-2). Sounds like they operated as one team in terms of practice and training and shuffled back and forth players between the two teams (I don't to what extent they ended up doing this). In theory, they were tinkering with their 18-1 roster all year kind of like a HS varsity and JV teams. Yes, this is a great way to utilize their practice time with the many good coaches they have. But I don't think they did much mixing and matching for tournaments. But maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention. Heck, I thought Clark was playing.

I think you just reduced the number of "elite" schools down to 3 (OK, 4). Amazing how you totally ignored what I said. I think they fall in that category, but I would understand if someone's definition requires a little more history, or a greater number of top recruits. Btw, for the record, I don't think Maizy Jackson has played for the 18-1s.

There. Now you've put it in bold. You should be able to read it even more clearly: 1) I called Wisconsin an elite program (you didn't quote that part, but see below) 2) I clarified my definition to include top 20 programs in case anyone objected to Wisconsin in that category I am really impressed with MN Select's showing. They have one player going to an elite D1 volleyball program (next fall, that is). Emphasis mine.

Is this a one and done type year for TIV, in terms of competitiveness in open? This team was very competitive in 16s, 17s and 17s. Noneoftge current teams are competitive in open at any other age group.

I am amazed they have courts with a non-symmetrical design. It makes a difference when you play on weird courts. You would think it would at least be the same on both sides.

TAV takes it. That program is just so good at the fundementals. First two condacnfs were superior than TIV. I thought TAV’s libero and Myers in the middle were a difference maker for this match. Nalls was very good for TIV.

TIV really kicked away g2. They were up 20-15 or something like that. Then had a bad stretch of passing.

TAV was down 13-20. TAV also won USA. Good year for Sample.

Is this a one and done type year for TIV, in terms of competitiveness in open? Will be interesting to see. Until 3-4 years ago, TIV and TAV were only about 5 miles from each other in Arlington. At that time, TAV moved to Carrollton which adjoins northwest Dallas which gave it closer access to the North Dallas suburbs which is a volleyball rich area.
This TIV team has several top players, such as Phillips (Texas) and Tealer (Kentucky) that live within a few miles of TIV and likely may have ended up at TAV in the past. If TIV is able to keep the top players out of Tarrant County like it did on this team, it likely will remain a contender in Open.
