Billy’s life is not just beach volleyball. May want to do some research on him. AVP doesn’t need anyone that disagrees with them!! Yes, Billy seems to have a stable career still being involved in education and what will be his foreseeable future probably paired up with continuing to teach the game of volleyball as well. However, if Billy really is set on making the Olympics, then his life is certainly beach volleyball from now until then and he definitely needs the AVP more than they need him. www.manhattan-tutoring.com/Interesting. Kelly Larsen too. (Although a non-native speaker tutoring Spanish?) Billy cant make the Olympics but if pursuing them is really his goal, I don't see whey he needs the AVP. Probably makes it easier if he wants to switch partners, and definitely some money, but not much. How many AVPs would he play anyway? Maybe 4 or 5? Casebeer, a very comparable player, made 25 and 23 k the last two years playing full 8 event schedules. Thats roughly 12k for Billy if he played AVP, while also maximizing his chances to qualify. (and probably less since he starts as the last seed) From what I have seen of Billy he seems like a good guy and if Donald insists on him groveling, I hope he decides not to.

For the sake of conversation, let's say he makes that extra 12k playing - that is still an extra 12k especially considering his travel and lodging will be covered as a MD player, plus he will getting court time in against other players in a live competitive setting. Then consider as 405 and were discussing the other day if USAV is not picking up the tab for the out of country tourneys then he could seriously use that extra money he would get by competing on the tour. He may not need the AVP as a make or break, but I certainly think that it hurts him more than it helps him by not being a part of it. I don't think he should go to the point of groveling, but if he and Sun can work out an amicable agreement he should be looking to go that route without doubt.

Definitely better for him to play than not, agreed there, just not essential enough for him to get on his knees was my point, which I think we agree on. Is USAV no longer paying players for expenses? I guess that would be one way to clear out the senior citizen bracket. I doubt it will happen, but would definitely be interesting if it did

You seem to be the only one vocal about my posts. You must be a fan. Or it could be no one else cares, which is more probable. At least my posts keeps you typing 405. And you all thought Kerri rules the universe. Once again me may own the AVP, but he’s still as AHole!! And in comes Kerri with pro P90 crap. Billy's beach volleyball career is toast now along with Page, Travis can't cover the sport he loves. Your legacy is truly remarkable. We know this to be fact, AVP actually authored the statement or gave "suggested" references to cover? Does anyone have a copy of it? And certainly would be interesting if his return was pending an approved statement. He needs to do what Sun asks, no questions about it. Billy's life is beach volleyball, he needs the AVP, they don't need him. 405- Improve your post, this last one is terrible. If your strategy is quantity over quality your killing it. Read below. Your life is Volleytalk, you need Volleytalk, Volleytalk doesn't need you. You see how that sounds, quit mailing it in bruh.

Loved it, Guest2, just like GoldenGirls did. However, that does not mean that we can't comment on the issues which arose and hope that they do not happen again (assuming p1440 ever runs another tourney). The concrete sand was a pretty big issue - here's why. We have the same type of sand in our backyard court, and when it gets wet (even from the overnight moisture), it sets up pretty hard. I personally spend an hour or so rototilling our court to soften up the sand before we play (played 3 hours last night), which is why when they brought out the rototillers en masse on the courts, we realized the sand was an issue. Again, we were there to see that, and actually felt the sand and watched the issues with it arise, so to say it was not an issue based on what you have heard from others means absolutely nothing.
Similarly, the lights, whether they affected 2 matches or 22, were also an issue. We went down on the court when they suspended play and peppered a bit, and it was really hard to see, especially in certain parts of the court. Making some teams play through that while granting an exception for others was simply unfair, but yet again, feel free to comment on things that you know nothing about and have only read about third hand.
I enjoy every tournament I am lucky enough to attend, and try hard to share thoughts on these events so that folks who are not fortunate enough to go can actually get a feel for what they are like. You are really good at disputing other people's contentions by ferreting through Dr. Ono's database and finding the results of this player or that, and apparently that makes folks on here think that you are very knowledgeable. My problem with your input about how Donald Sun sucks for not having more tournaments, how the tournaments themselves suck, or how various players suck (as in your comments about how women's US beach volleyball is at its lowest point ever) really flows from the simple fact that you never attend these events and thus are unable to understand how they truly feel and how things transpire. Watch your streams, comment on the players and matches you watch, and then just shut up. To my knowledge, the only tournament you have attended over the past several years was the FIVB in Poland, after which you continued to trash the AVP and proclaimed Sarah Pavan the best player in the world (even after she lost in the Quali to the 75 year old Lindquist sisters in a match many of us actually watched live). Awesome! Please share your thoughts about any tournaments you go to after actually observing the players in person, and witnessing the crowds, the ambience, the layout, the weather, and everything else. But until then, please realize that without StevieofMB, Volleychicks, 405, GoldenGirls, Jim and the many others who actually attend, you would have no livestream to watch, no Donald Sun to whine about, and no US tournaments to comment on.
By the way, Volleychicks is a sweetheart who has been going to tourneys for many years and has sponsored many, many women's players through the years. We are lucky to know and hang with her at many tournaments, and she has more volleyball knowledge in her pinkie than most of the "experts" on here (including me) have in their entire bodies!

Loved it, Guest2, just like GoldenGirls did. However, that does not mean that we can't comment on the issues which arose and hope that they do not happen again (assuming p1440 ever runs another tourney). I said they were excellent events and you called that characterization "silly." Have you heard from any fans who were on site that didnt have a good time? Many of us watching remotely preferred the p1440 presentation to the AVP. Seemed like an overwhelming majority. So the fans on site had a great time and "loved it" and the fans watching remotely did too. How is that not an excellent event? The concrete sand was a pretty big issue - here's why. GG was there as well and said it wasn't an issue. But more importantly, so what? How did it affect the fan experience? Fighting about the sand in this respect is like Casey's idiotic boasting about the food in the player's tent. Unless it affects the fan experience, what difference does it make? Do you refuse to watch football played on turf? Does anyone?
A much more serious issue from a fan perspective would be a DJ constantly playing annoying music - before you argue thats another one of your opinions - and a PA guy who annoys rather than adds. Would you say Huntington was not an excellent event? Similarly, the lights, whether they affected 2 matches or 22, were also an issue. We went down on the court when they suspended play and peppered a bit, and it was really hard to see, especially in certain parts of the court. Making some teams play through that while granting an exception for others was simply unfair, but yet again, feel free to comment on things that you know nothing about and have only read about third hand. You are really good at disputing other people's contentions by ferreting through Dr. Ono's database and finding the results of this player or that, and apparently that makes folks on here think that you are very knowledgeable. Im not really sure what your point is here. Knowledgeable compared to whom? Im sure there are many more and many less knowledgeable, but I have seen every important US player of the past 20 years at least a dozen times each, and I have seen most of them in person. Thats not Nina Mathies level knowledgeable, but I would bet I watch significantly more bvb than you do. But again, so what? My problem with your input about how Donald Sun sucks for not having more tournaments, how the tournaments themselves suck, or how various players suck (as in your comments about how women's US beach volleyball is at its lowest point ever) I am not sure if you are being intentionally disingenuous or have trouble with time. Years ago, when I said that, US BVB was at its lowest ebb. Our top team had Lauren Fendrick on it. really flows from the simple fact that you never attend these events and thus are unable to understand how they truly feel and how things transpire. Watch your streams, comment on the players and matches you watch, and then just shut up. In terms of figuring out which players are good or not, video beats live all to hell. You see angles, replays etc. that live fans never see because they are stationary, they can't zoom, they see most things once - depending on if there is a video board or not. Teams use video to break down their rivals' games and generally try to take video even when scouting actual matches. You also get the benefit of camera positions that live viewers cant emulate.
But beyond that, and very few of us here are coaches or scouts, I just dont see how you don't get that you are the equivalent of the studio audience on an old sitcom. The product exists to serve the remote viewer not the other way around. That's why admission is free. You mean the woman who led the FIVB in wins last year despite playing with a partner who is merely good? She probably isnt the best anymore - Brandie likely is right now- but a few weeks after the match you reference - at that Poland event - she destroyed April Ross - your candidate at the time - 8 and 15Awesome! I have no livestream to watch now. The AVP is not available where I live. The only AVP I watch these days is that which generous souls like NYVarsity Sports posts online, although he seems to have recorded half of Huntington ...

I volunteered on the sand for 6 center court matches. The sand was fine on center court. I was also unaware that new sand was brought in after the fact. I missed qualifiers due to my plane delay, which I’m still annoyed about. April & Alix to my knowledge did not back out after getting there because of the sand. If they did, they were the only top team to do so. I met a lot of awesome players that I’ve watched for years. My most disappointing encounter was with Jake & Taylor. Seemed like they couldn't have cared less. Never really acknowledged me at all. I’m a big Jake fan so that was a bummer. Everyone else was pretty awesome. Yes, wish the attendance was better but after watching some of these other FIVB tournies around the world on stream, it seems the norm. It was also Vegas. Hard sell with so much other stuff going on. Not many will make a special trip cross country to watch a beach VB tournament.

Kerri Walsh Jennings blew it plain and simple. She went in guns blazing and completely blew it. She should swallow her pride

Kerri Walsh Jennings blew it plain and simple. She went in guns blazing and completely blew it. She should swallow her pride She's made her money and was looking at life after being a player. Don't blame her for at least trying... Had a backer with a lot of money, players unhappy with the AVP contract, and a small amount of tournaments with limited prize money. There really wasn't a better time to try, except when the AVP went under.
