I think the only question is whether he broke the window, then jumped, or broke it as he jumped. But do we really need to talk about this. Responding to questions that there could be a struggle, I don't think that's at all the case. I have talked to quite a few friends who have dealt with personal family experiences and even a few Dr. friends that work in the field for answers to questions and theories I have pondered, what I have come to feel is best for my personal curiosity is to wait and see what findings the police and/or his family share with us in due time. While we wait for some more information to shed light on a terrible loss for the community just smile and enjoy another great article by Travis. p1440.com/news/you-cannot-replace-an-eric-zaun/Additional article written by Avery. volleyballmag.com/avery-drost-061419/

I first watched Zaun in his first year in the NVL. I could see his ability. The guy had the most fluid approach and load a beach player could possibly have. A great view of it is when he jump serves. I also thought I saw a grumpy, prickly, salty, awkward person that nobody could possibly like, and that was my impression of him all the way up through when I had a brief encounter with him in Hermosa last year. I feel like I couldn't have been more wrong about who a guy was personally that what I assumed Zaun was like.

Was there ever an "Eric" in "the day" they all refer to? Was he our only Old School Beach Volleyball player? For a player with only a couple of years on the AVP, what a splash he made and how much he will be missed...RIP Eric Zaun, We flew, drove-to, an walked to tournaments to see you play . . .

Awesome video. Seemed like a very original character. I wish someone would talk about his famous Pottstown meltdown story that floats around, I never did hear of that.

But last year Eric won both the doubles and triples event at Waupaca. The triples had a bit of drama since Eric disappeared before the finals and missed the entire warm-up. You could tell the other three teammates had no idea where he was at. Eric showed up about 30 seconds before the start and they could be seen explaining to him that he wouldn't be playing in the first game. After dropping that game to Tim Bomgren and a couple other Minnesota guys, they put Eric back in and his massive serve carried his team to victory. He was quite the entertainer.

Really great video tribute but wish they could've gotten Ed in as well. Either way it was emotional to watch.

If you haven’t listened to the Zaun Sandcast episode you have to. It completely paints a picture of his character which is a 180 degree change from what you assume he is like based on his on court demeanor. Legitimately hilarious guy.

It was either last year or the year before at AVP Chicago he was supposed to play on one of the outer courts, thing was packed as it was a Saturday elimination game and he was no where to be found. Everyone was chirping Ed about going to get his boy, or to go knock on the van to wake him up, basically guy was just MIA and had multiple people looking for him. As they are about to start throwing out penalties he comes walking, yes literally walking, up to the court with headphones in and casually stretching then walks on the court like he was going to start peppering with Ed. He was in his own world then after he got like 2 swings in maybe, he went back and ran off 5 points. The Waupaca story is great too, on the sidelines just talking sh*t the whole time he was out insinuating they were in trouble when he got in and it was exactly the case, it was such a fun match to watch. The Pottstown story I believe had to do with one of the refs calling his hands and he just exploded, there used to be a video of it floating around but I haven't seen it or looked for it in years.

I think there was a thread on here about the Hand's call.
