Jordan Larson is currently first in the poll but the name is spelled wrong. It is Larson not Larsen

Time to bump this....might also need to start a new thread with a narrower poll? I think we discussed the field being narrowed down to about 19-20 individuals.

Why so much love for Thompson but not Plummer? Seems like a majority of people think Plummer is the best pin in the country. Why does one college senior make 2020 while the other does not have “enough time”?

Why does one college senior make 2020 while the other does not have “enough time”? I'm not sure I agree with that. All due respect to Plummer, but I think Thompson is the best pin. One thing I just discovered is that Cincinnati setter Armania Heckenmueller is actually leading the country in assists per set, which I never would have guessed from watching her. I have not been very impressed with her play this season, so I attribute her assist numbers in large part to Thompson, both directly (her own kills) and indirectly (opening up other attackers). Either way, the fact that Thompson is already on the national team and played very well in both the VNL and the Olympic qualifier gives her a huge advantage.

Quite the opposite of JT wherein she fits the current system well. She's fast, strong and jumps high.

Why does one college senior make 2020 while the other does not have “enough time”? Go watch the Pan Am games that Plummer played last summer. She looked slow and not ready to play at the speed of international volleyball. She got blocked a lot. The Pan Am tournament was much weaker compared to the VNL and OQT tournament matches that Thompson played and excelled in. This shouldn't come as a surprise though. We have seen many top level college players not able to find immediate international success due to the differences in the game.

Plummer best chance is 2024 at this point. Foecke is in the same boat. They both will need time to adjust to the international game.

Rettke next Olympics, Lee barely made a roster this past summer.
It’s funny how if you look back to the start of this thread ( June) to now, you see some differences emerge- obviously Lloyd was in the mix before and is not now. Drew’s and Thompson are now ahead of Lowe. Robinson is the interesting one because she does not want to be the Libero and has worked hard ( and successfully to be an OH). Foluke is a wild card too after just having a baby. My guess is Chiaka and Dixon over Washington ( she’s another next Olympics person.) It sure will be interesting.

Why so much love for Thompson .... Speaking only to Thompson, this young woman has the frame, armswing, touch on the ball, hand movement, explosiveness and side to side range that I haven't seen in many women currently playing volleyball on this continent.

I think if Foecke can adjust to the international/pro level and be a full time starter then I can see her trying for 2024. Right now it is a work in progress. If she is unable to then I do think vet school will be her choice. She signed for two years so we will see.
