Shanghai lost pretty badly to Tianjin. They lost in straight sets and they did not get past 18 points in any of them... That first set was horrible, hitting straight into the block and poor covering by their defense.

It’s not over yet. It’s best 3 of 5 games. Shanghai is missing Lippman for at least the first 2 games. But so far it seems like Tianjin has been unbeatable this season.

Tianjin with 3 NT members as starters one of them is freaking Zhu Ting aka best player in the world and they have a decent OPP in Hooker. Shanghai has no CHN NT in the roster with only Larson being the offensive player for them.

Yet there are NT members on Jiangsu, Beijing, Liaoning, Guangdong and Bayi too, none of them got as far as Shanghai. So it's not just the players that matters, it's who the coaches are here that matters. Wang Zhiteng, the coach of Shanghai, also deserves some credit for taking the team this far.

Lang Ping watching the European Olympic Qualifier in Netherlands. She was with Ma Yunwen (2008 Beijing Bronze Medalist) who's husband was the former Chinese NT trainer, but now part of the Netherlands training staff.

Shanghai lost again in straight sets. This time they scored a few more points losing -23, -19, -17. It won't be easy or even likely, but let's see if Shanghai can score a win over Tianjin in the next match. After all, it is their last chance to retain a shot at the championship this year.
