If Kenzie Koerber shows up in this match, this match will be interesting.
Last night vs Illinois the only good thing about her game was her serving. Offense was obviously missing.
And Weatherington needs more sets. Girl has a cannon.
And obviously, Dani Drews and Berkeley Oblad.

Difference, again, could come down to serve/pass. Duh, I know. BYU really needs the middles connecting so there’s a seam for Grimmer, cuz it seems that’s all she can hit 😐

I don't see BYU losing a subregional match at home.

Then you're not seeing Utah.

I thought if Kerber and Ka'aha'aina-Torres had played more solidly throughout the match, Utah probably would have won both sets two and three and taken the hard-fought sweep over Illinois. On the other hand, I thought if Illinois' passing and Diana Brown's setting and choices hadn't gotten worse as the match wore on, Illinois probably would have won set four and the match 3-1. I had no idea who was going to win after the fourth even though Utah seemed to have the momentum. Neither team had been able to maintain an advantage long enough to put the other team away for good. It was a battle of wills as much as skills. I think Utah is probably the better team, but it's hard to say when I haven't seen either play much this year. It was a very fun match to watch. Too bad there were fewer Utah fans than in past years when they've played in Provo. I'm guessing the football game had something to do with that.
I thought BYU was the 3rd-best team on the night. They got the job done, but it was rather blase after the previous match. Of course NMSU having such a poor first set made it a bit tricky when they started playing better. Still, it seemed like BYU was going to win the match even if they weren't too impressive doing it. Hopefully they'll rise to the occasion tonight against Utah. I'm not sure they really have much of a home court advantage this year. They've played just as poorly at home as they have on the road, maybe even worse at home.
I was surprised to see Grace Wee play back row at the end of set three when the match was pretty much won. She hasn't seen the court in over a month.

While I agree that BYU's home-court advantage is not what it was last year, I don't think BYU has really played "poorly" this year at all. I suppose if the standard is last year's team, then sure. But they have four losses, all to good teams. They're a good team. I think trying to hold them to the standard of perhaps the best team in school history is just not realistic, considering the losses to graduation. Anyway, we'll see what happens tonight.

Utah is a good team and they have also played poorly this year. Just because I said BYU played poorly doesn't mean I think they aren't a good team. I just don't think they are as good as perhaps you or others do. They've worked hard to get better, but I'm not sure they've gotten better as a whole. They've had some amazing performances against other good teams, and they've looked pretty sloppy and lackluster against others. I'm not judging them against last year's team. I'm judging them against the standard of what I consider good volleyball. Still they've managed to win even when they've played poorly. I thought they might not even make the tournament after watching them at the beginning of the season. They have done very well considering some very glaring weaknesses. Just because I thought they were the 3rd-best team last night doesn't mean I think they will lose to Utah tonight. I want them to win. I just think it will be very, very difficult, and home court advantage will have little to do with the outcome.
