Brandy Donnelly was given a scholarship for her freshman, sophomore and senior year at the time she was offered and enrolled. I don't know if she ultimately was given a scholarship for her junior year, although given how important she became, I assume something was worked out.

Going thru out current roster, i can see maybe 2-3 given leas than 4 years. It going to be impossible to attract top recruits without a 4 year scholie. Brandi was an amazing libero! But if remember correctly, she got recruited mainly for softball and ILL was her only scholie offer for Volleyball.

Congrats on the huge upset win against Purdue. Finally able to breakthrough. Tough season with Covid, match cancels, line up shuffles and injuries. Looking forward to the full fall season and a healthy line-up.

Congrats on the huge upset win against Purdue. Finally able to breakthrough. Tough season with Covid, match cancels, line up shuffles and injuries. Looking forward to the full fall season and a healthy line-up. I'm over the moon for the Illini today. I thought the three pins played really well in the back row with some timely, solid passing and difficult digs. Tamas with some crucial challenge overturns. Kuper and Brown running all over the court keeping the play alive. Bruna looks really comfortable hitting that D ball out of the back row and had a monster match! Raina ripping aggressive as always and looking confident. Cooney providing a constant threat from the RS. All that clutch pin hitting on a day where we couldn't really get the middles going. Kylie Bruder's maybe final match and she put together some good service runs and a huge defensive layout to keep the play alive which ended in a set win for the Illini. And a win over their highest ranked opponent since beating #7 Marquette in the 2019 preseason!

They can make some noise in the fall. Kuper is really holding down the Libero position, Megan cooney will be back, Bruna seems to be on the cusp of a breakout, and they’ve finally settled into a 5-1 after the 6-2 with bruder. Terry will also be improved as well; she will be the backbone of this team in the future.

Wes Hollenberg's latest in the Daily Illini with confirmation from Megan Cooney that she's returning in the fall and starting grad school at UIUC! Includes comments from Cooney and Raina: Illinois splits matches against No. 8 Purdue, ends season on high noteQuote from Cooney on returning for one more season: “I just decided this past week that this is what’s right for me. I’m going to continue grad school to become a speech pathologist here. Working towards my future career and getting to play another season of volleyball is a win-win for sure. I’m super excited to continue to be an Illini, continue to play on this team. My coaches are super stoked and my teammates as well, so I’m ready to get back at it.”

In summation, I think the future looks very promising for the Illini. They will return their entire starting lineup, after already being competitive with multiple top ten opponents, as shown by 5-set losses to Minnesota, Penn State, and Ohio State, plus a win against Purdue. Their core is very young, with only 1 senior and 1 junior, and the rest sophomores and freshmen. They have real terminator power at the pins and very good size along the front row. If they can develop a quality DS to go along with the greatly improved Libero in the back row, and also develop the offensive production of their middles, they will almost certainly make the playoffs next year and be a legitimate factor in the B1G.
