Who is on the mic during the Olympics? Lewie is my ideal euro representative, Travis is probably the best broadcaster the US can send. Is there a commentator from somewhere else who throws down?
What's the dream combination next year?

I definitely don't want the guy from volleyballtv who simply narrates stats all game long and describes what happens. Anybody else noticed this? I don't know his name but the dude is like "Mol hits the ball down the line. This is Mol's 13th winner. He goes back to the service line. He has 3 aces already. The opposing team has only two. Mol serves into the net. This is his 2nd error". It's so annoying lol...

If any broadcaster employees are reading this thread: !!!!please make use of actual players as commentators!!!!!
Players can provide good insights about the game and the players. They hardly need to do much preparation.
We are extremely tired of generic commentators who know absolutely nothing about the game, and just scream "oooooooh", "oh my word", "he absolutely belted that ball", "what a monster block".... They are empty in the head.

This is not a knock on Travis because I think he is enjoyable to listen to sometimes and obviously has been following, but I think there are some better choices. Outside of the normal people and including nuking any thought of Dain doing it, I would personally rather listen to Cam or Rich before Travis if they were looking for new alternatives to a US broadcaster.

Lewie Simon and Rich are my top 3. I think Travis has a tendency to over talk. Don't particularly like Pottharst. Don't like the Canadian sounding stats guy either...whenever he's calling a match it sounds like it's being called by a guy who is still learning the ins and outs of the sport.

I absolutely disliked the girl calling the gstaad final. The voice was like she partied all weekend and there were no interesting information whatsoever. Only described what happened and waaaay to many superlatives used.

I think Nicole Branagh does a real nice job for college beach. Anne Marie too? And Holly.

I think Nicole Branagh does a real nice job for college beach. Anne Marie too? And Holly. I havent heard her but I endorse her anyway. I think, at least in conversations when I have heard her, she has a nice midwestern kind of understatement that is nice in someone you are going to listen to for an hour. Rich would be great, Marlowe and/or Sunderland even given their relative lack of commitment to the modern beach game. I'd also prefer it not be Travis. I don't care for his style and find his storytelling to be a little untethered from facts, primarily in writing but a little in the few times I listened before I added him to the announcers I mute, which is most of them TBF.

I'd be surprised if it's not Marlowe and Wong again for NBC's coverage of the Paris Olympics. They've been doing it for multiple games now, and NBC doesn't seem like the kind of network that would ditch the status quo. Although, with the AVP no longer on NBC perhaps Marlowe and Wong would be viewed as being out of the BVB loop. If NBC decides to make a change, I'll bet they go with Dain for sure, and probably Cam, who is getting a lot of broadcast experience in multiple sports. They'll probably also bring in KWJ in some capacity again.
Hard to see NBC bringing in someone who only works the college game for the Olympics. Travis and Rich both have pro beach broadcasting experience but are relatively unknown outside of the sport. And they're not going to put an international announcer on an NBC network broadcast.

Couldn’t find any video of Nicole doing Pac 12. They do a good job researching and background. I did find this article. volleyballmag.com/volleyball-broadcasters-040919/(Oh! And I recently saw the video of Mark S falling over announcing Kan).

If I could pick two teams that were going to do the Olympics, I would go with 1. Simon & Damien Schuman (Australian Olympian) 2. Lewie and Rich.... Team 1 provides a professional and detailed view (I think DS is providing the most insight of any announcer right now... Team 2 is just a hoot... Love the way they work together....

The McKibbins would be awesome for the mens! Again, nice guys who know the game, but not broadcasters. People like the Mckibbins, Friend, Travis do it as a hobby - not something they practice or work at to improve or be better and you don't just throw people like that out there on an Olympic broadcast. Even Rich toes that line of hobby and side job, however is very good at it and knowledgeable. I have no problem with paying the first group of people I mentioned some small stipend for doing AVP broadcasts and see how they do as regulars or just extra reps, but not the Olympics.

NBC has a much higher standard for professional broadcasting training and experience geared toward a more mainstream audience. Doesn't matter as much how much knowledge they have. Even someone like Rich, as much as I like him, NBC would probably look into some of the cringe-worthy comments he's made to smaller audiences and probably take pass. I did notice that the AVP used Rich and Mark S more heavily in the booth alongside Cam in Hermosa. Maybe Matt Prosser and Dain Blanton weren't available? I think it's good to get these people practice doing AVP broadcasts if that's the sort of path they see their careers going down.
