Does anyone know how Bello is actually supposed to be pronounced ? Yes. I asked Barbara the mum. Bello is a Spanish surname (I don’t know any English born bellows yet) but in the UK everyone pronounces it Bello. But in Spain where they are born and grew til they were ten it was Beyyo. Barbara said However they don’t mind how you say it because they hear it both ways. But during UK commentary esp for the commonweath games where they won bronze you would hear Bello not Beyyo. Hope this clears it up. I would as British say Bello. Simon does too. Travis is using the Spanish version as did Eric today I think.

Bello's take it 15-13. USA #2 losing to England is a bad look. Lol not at all. These boys grew up competing against Sweden and Norway in NEZVA and are seriously hard workers. Their results of late have seen off some serious opposition.

I disagree. The Bellos are on the rise and their Euro results last year started to implicate just how good they are becoming. Look at the seeding of the winners as a start point. Aus seed 17, George and Andre 4, Cappogrosso 22, Herra Gavira 11, Scachter Dearing 13. The Bellos were seed 7. Only one team with a high initial position. Their last season results are stacking up.

I’ve definitely heard it both ways and today I think I heard mostly Bellio (kind of like a combination of the two) so it got me wondering ! Appreciate the clarification.

Nice to see England competitive here. I do wonder if they are big enough to compete at the Elite 16 level though.

Looks like Mudinger has already gained 160 points on Treo in the Olympic points race and are currently within 420, if I did the math right. Every match win here closes the gap further. Winning gold would put them within 220.
HMol/Berntsen next is a very winnable match.

(Accidentally posted in womens thread)
Watched the first set of Treo vs Bello bros and moved on because it looked like Treo was gonna continue stomping on them. I think Bello’s still have room to improve (nice to see them battle back) but Treo definitely brought this loss upon themselves, they never capitalized on any opportunities (felt like they would error on the few transition digs they would get). Theo was blocking like crazy though it just wasn’t enough
Just finished watching Mudinger, I thought Chase looked so dialed in and I think he plays better when he’s fired up, teams should take note not to get too chirpy with him lol. Evans played well, didn’t make a ton of hitting errors and he’s fun to watch because aside from Partain, he’s probably the only US defender at this level that actually looks and moves fluidly like a defender. I’m surprised Brazil kept serving Chase so much though, they should’ve switched to Evans to see if he’d break down but they just never tested him
Will watch Cri later but they are probably my least favorite team to watch at this point

I do wonder if they are big enough to compete at the Elite 16 level though. i would have tended to agree with you, the discussion around their height has always been a hotly debated one. As twins they have something special but without the block should they play with taller partners...however you cant buy the phase, i think they have entered into, which is teamwork synergy. They used to infight and it was frustrating, that seems to have all been washed away, there is a unity about them and its so lovely to see after watching them grow up. At 182cm and 186cm (take a look at some still shots of J blocking to know how hard he has to work every jump) they must be the smallest team on tour (help me out if i am wrong?) Then also add in hard work, ball control and the growing synergy and its something you cant buy . And also doing something you love to do with someone you love dearly must be so rewarding wheen they have time to smell the roses! given joaquin has just qualified as a doctor as well you gotta just take your hat off and say you are earning this. also probably one of the most underfunded teams, who are backing themselves. always love an underdog!

If you are asking how they do actually pronounce it in England, idk. I guess they go with the Spanish version among family and accept whatever pronunciation the English fancy.

Huge missed foot fault by Evandro at the end of set 2, but guess it doesn’t matter by how up USA was, they still won the set

Wow Hendrik Mol is detonating balls. Must be one of the hardest hitters out there. Love his middle blocker fast attack.

As Mudinger move on to Semis, they gain a minimum of 220 points, with a min 680 replacing their low counter of 460 currently. that puts Mudinger's Top 9 finishes at 5830, just 110 points behind Treo who sit at 5940, who saw no improvement with their disappointing 9th place finish today.
Should they finish 2nd, they move to just 30 points behind.
The USA race for USA2 just got a lot interestinger.
yes I made up that word.
Tri/Chaim pick up 600 to replace a low counter of 460, putting them at 5240. PS what did Chaim hit in the 3rd set?

Chaim hit negative that 3rd set... 3/4/2. -.111 and THAT is what is keeping his team back.
I've resisted the temptation for at least three tournaments, but I am now ready to say that Miles Evans is a more effective defender than Chaim. Can you imagine even thinking that 18 months ago?

3rd consecutive tournament where Chaim hits negative in an elimination game 3.

Talk about polar opposite approaches to the game in the England/Cuba semi. That should be very fun to watch.
