The intent of the letter is fine, but you can see why the FIVB is such a failure as an organization when they repeatedly pay lip service to the idea that the athletes may have been actually injured when its clear as day that they were lying. Ending with "let’s all work together to keep our athletes safe while upholding the competitive integrity of our sport" may as well be an announcement that this won't be enforced I don’t think the FIVB has any doubt that the players are lying, but this is just a diplomatic first attempt at addressing the problem. You know, carrot before stick. I would hope it at least sparks some productive conversation among the parties. We will see next week whether it has any effect in Xiamen. Yes I understand that the FIVB knows they are lying. Hence my objection. The problem should not be solved diplomatically, the FIVB should use it as an excuse to establish a new player/event/promoter dynamic. The forfeits stink, but are also symptomatic of larger issues with the tour, some on the player side - the terrible fields in the late season for example - and some on the tour side - the idiotic competition structure. A better option might have been a strongly worded letter about players not respecting the sport that specifically mentioned no-showing events and that ended by choosing the team that had forfeited the most and suspending them for the next few events as a lesson to stop crapping on their own sport and its promoters and fans

That side set and termination by the Dutch! 👀 It's early, but the Dutch out simply outclassing Treo right now. Treo won last week's Challenge but they received some important points from their opponents' unforced errors. I don't think those errors will happen much in an E16.

to be fair, I have Boermans / de Groot as a top 4 team in the world. Possibly one of three favorites for Gold depending upon how Anders recuperates. They have no weaknesses and they have timed their run to peak in Paris.
de Groot us a pleasure to watch play. Look at that dig he made at 3-2, set 2. He's set up angle and sprints to line to pick up Trevors line shot. That was part anticipation, part speed. Only Ahman of all defenders could have gotten to that. Then look at 8-8 to see him catch up to Boerman's shank pass.

I was thinking the same thing! This Dutch team is great! Treo is doing better in set 2.

The Dutch end it in style with the jump set and kill!
A better set for Treo in the second but they were simply outclassed.

I think Treo played well. Better actually than in their win in Guadalajara.

I told you guys Spain is peaking at the right time. They were dead and in the grave (perfomance-wise) 3 months ago. I think they just relaxed. They were already into the Top 10 in Olympic qualifying, and coasted for a while. Big win over Nicolai/Cottafava.

Menesh playing now... though not much of a test, they're playing the Mex WC team. Think I'll see a better game CUB v. GER.

This announcer on CUB/GER is really starting to bug me with his mispronunciations. EEE-lers? Uh-LAY-ho? SACK-uh-Ray-muh? to his credit, he did say VICK-ler.
