Nuss/Kloth from 9-5 lead set 2 to 11-16... Did they at least call a timeout by 11-15 down or so? after a 2-10 run

Schoon deals her 9th ace and the Dutch's 10th overall to seal the win against TKN.
Stam/Schoon just played in TKN's faces. What a performance. Even when Nuss did get involved, it seemed like Schoon was all over her shots.
Stam was bombing with that wicked left swing.
Taryn struggled mightily in serve receive and it affected her entire game.
Tough day for the USA women.

what an exciting match to watch! Gottardi's serve was the difference. So good! She was hitting it so flat and with great pace! Last year Tepic was sort of her coming out party. She served great then too into the semis. Her serve floats really well indoors. She also has the mechanics of an indoor volleyball serve, probably more so than any other elite beach player. Probably not a coincidence.

Tough day for the USA women. I wonder if TKN is still training with high school kids in NOLA? Tough way to start the season if you’re not used to seeing elite level opponents. But they’ll have plenty of time to get back into form by July.

How is that going to help them pass floats that their opponents have been practicing on women’s nets their whole life? Is Paris indoor? I thought it was two years ago. Might spell some trouble for our American teams with their issues regarding float serves.

The Chinese team has been outscored by 42 points in their last 6 sets. Average score of 21-14. TCU girls were kind to take a year off school to give this team a chance to win sets.

Paris Olympics will be played outside

I remember Gottardi being the talk of the town during and for a bit after Tepic. She does have the mechanics of an indoor volleyball jump float with her arm cocked all the way back and to her toss and footwork. Thank you for the reminder that this match was played indoors. I'm sure that it affected the serving and serve receive of all the teams who have played thus far.

Maybe the net is at the women's height and the men are playing the game more similarly to how the women would be playing it? I can't see that they would be practicing against men and playing the game like men 100% of the time.

I thought it was obvious they practiced vs males on a women's net. Not sure why someone would think they practice on a men's net

I thought it was obvious they practiced vs males on a women's net. Not sure why someone would think they practice on a men's net I'm not sure. I can see how there might be a small transfer in terms of reaching higher when attacking (not saying that TKN needs that). Though, playing on a men's net would most likely through off Nuss' calibration on her shoot game which is a large chunk of what she uses and how she scores.

If you talk to men who are used to playing on a men’s net height, one of the most noticeable things they say about a women’s net height is how quickly that ball can drop. They have not been trained in that skill as servers, because men’s serve are more about power and lateral movement. Not to mention men are hitting from higher contact points. Passing on a women’s net against male servers is not going to help your ability to pass serves from women on the same net. Happens to be something Kloth has been terrible at since her Creighton days.

There’s no way they’re playing on men’s nets. Her shot-making likely is even more precise because she’s playing against longer defenders but her shot-making is not what’s causing TKN’s struggles. The issue is just that passing is very different against men and women.
