To counter, I've seen this all too often from Kelly where she gets on-two happy then fails to convert on an actual swing. Hopefully she can right the ship so USA1 can win this match! 2. That was some of the worst volleyball I have seen in a long time. Both teams should be removed from the Olympic race based on the level of play there. LOL, sort of like in timed events like track or swimming... failing to meet the Olympic minimum qualifying time required

Gottardi with the ace for the win. Bummer but good thing this match doesn't matter. well, it only doesn't matter if USA1 win their next two Pool games. If they split it likely comes down to the points ratio tie break.

I think people tend to expect too much from the option game. There is sort of an "it better work" attitude about each shot, whereas if the option is working at a higher percentage than setting your partner, its actually effective, even if it gets dug/blocked sometimes. Just finished watching Pavs v Spain. Two thoughts: 1. Glad Sarah won and very happy for her and Molly, they really persevered even after fighting back and losing Game 2. 2. That was some of the worst volleyball I have seen in a long time. Both teams should be removed from the Olympic race based on the level of play there. To clarify, by actual swing I meant a swing on the 3rd contact. I certainly don't have an "it better work attitude" in regards to any shot. I don't watch all the time but I've seen her be successful with her option game but struggle with her standard offense. Maybe because it's a different mentality altogether? Anyway, Italy won and that is exciting for them. I hope that Sara and Kelly bounce back to win their next one!

Hughes Cheng lose the third set 13-15 to Italy. The closed roof arena makes for more ball movement on serves. Last point not received well by Cheng - into the net. She also had three attack errors in the third set, despite some creative points on one and two.

what an exciting match to watch! Gottardi's serve was the difference. So good! She was hitting it so flat and with great pace!

Sometimes I have difficulty conveying what I want to say because there's either too much going on in my head or I'm too lazy to type it all out.

wow, out of nowhere CAN2 retake control of Olympic berth 18. Talk about rising from the ashes that was their Quali loss. Molly McBain really played great defense and put up some nice balls for Pavan to soft spike on two. Might be Molly's best game since college. Maybe seeing the Spanish Frogs on the sidelines in their TCU gear gave her some juice today - lol. But, yeah, it was a low bar out there.

If they lose to either of those teams, who likely couldn't win a match in the first round of an AVP tournament, they need to go home immediately and work on their passing.

They beat either of those teams about 19 out of 20 times. and Pavan is clearly not even 75%

What if Pavan is wearing the knee brace so she sees a couple more serves? lol
In the end McBain held her own but I think Spain was able to score about 6-7 breaks on her in set 1 on around 9 serves, yet served Pavan 9 times in set 1. That was mind boggling to me. Did anyone else notice that?

Stam is slaughtering some of her swings against Kloth/Nuss!

Schoon is a big girl who can run down so many shots!
The Dutch transition game is very strong right now. TKN reeling a bit.

Teams figured out this season to serve Kloth. It’s been really bad in 2024, so bad the 5’6 nuss can’t see a serve
