You know, if CAN2 win this match v ESP2, they get a double bonus. They fend of ESP2 from gaining on them for spot 18, AND they will probably advance out of Pool, if seeds hold, and put up 600 points in doing so... increasing their lead over those chasing them by 260 points (replacing a 340, Top 10 finishes).

Oh my! Italy had Chughes CLOCKED in set 2.
They also threw in some great short serves mixed in with strong floaters to the sidelines to disrupt any offense that Chughes likes to utilize.

wow, out of nowhere CAN2 retake control of Olympic berth 18. Talk about rising from the ashes that was their Quali loss.

However they usually get it done in the 3rd set. And when they lose their first Pool game they find a way to win the other two and advance.

I mean, she gave us a roll shot, back set and bump over on-two to help USA1 create a 3 point separation lol

Menegatti is just letting Kelly pick her to pieces. It's almost like she isn't expecting the options Kelly is taking.

To counter, I've seen this all too often from Kelly where she gets on-two happy then fails to convert on an actual swing. Hopefully she can right the ship so USA1 can win this match!

I think people tend to expect too much from the option game. There is sort of an "it better work" attitude about each shot, whereas if the option is working at a higher percentage than setting your partner, its actually effective, even if it gets dug/blocked sometimes. Just finished watching Pavs v Spain. Two thoughts: 1. Glad Sarah won and very happy for her and Molly, they really persevered even after fighting back and losing Game 2. 2. That was some of the worst volleyball I have seen in a long time. Both teams should be removed from the Olympic race based on the level of play there.

Gottardi with the ace for the win. Bummer but good thing this match doesn't matter.
