Jake Hanes averaging 5 points a set for Berlin in a sweep of Herrsching.
Knigge scored three points and was replaced by Krick (who scored 1 point), after the second set.
Dagostino wasn't in the lineup.
McIntosh passed decent for Freiburg in a sweep of Netzhoppers.
Slivinsky went of for 17 kills and 4 aces in a five-set loss to Duren, then hit .000 with 2 kills in the first set against VCO Berlin the next say before being subbed. Gallas led them to a 3-1 win and had 21 points.

We were already leading 2:1 in sets, but in the fourth set our opponents made successful changes to the line-up and started playing very well again. We, on the other hand, had our own problems. It took us too long to adapt to the play of Resovia's substitutes and react to them appropriately. However, it is always good to return to a good game in the fifth set, show great volleyball in it and win it. PLUSLIGA.PL: The match in Rzeszów showed the enormous strength of the Zawiercie team and the depth of the line-up, because you played not only without Mateusz Bieniek, but also the leading PlusLiga libero - Luke Perry. PLUSLIGA.PL: Since the beginning of the season, you have shown that the role of a leader, to whom very demanding, situational balls are often sent, suits you?I would definitely like to do well enough in every match for my team to win. You can see that "Migi" (Miguel Tavares - editor's note) has great trust in me. I feel very comfortable in the team. My teammates support me a lot and as much as they can, they cover me in the reception, helping me in this element. This makes my task easier, but the most important thing is that I enjoy playing with my teammates.
PLUSLIGA.PL: After the first matches in PlusLiga, can you already try to evaluate the Polish competitions?Polish league teams play at a high level, and the fans love volleyball. Is winning the AL-KO Polish Super Cup a confirmation of the team's great potential?I think there are many teams in the PlusLiga that have big ambitions and similar goals to us. I don't know if we are the biggest favourite and it's not up to me to judge. There is certainly no shortage of strong teams in Poland, and in the end, success can be decided by the great form of one of the players, or some golden touch in defence or blocking. We should focus on continuing to work in training, growing as a team and playing as patiently as possible. PLUSLIGA.PL: Will the presence of a fellow countryman from Zawiercie – Kyle Ensing – help you acclimatize?Certainly, but I must emphasize that we have a great group of people in the team. I have already mentioned this in interviews, that in Zawiercie I very quickly felt that I was a member of this team and I have never experienced anything like this before. As for Kyle, yes, we had the opportunity to play together in the national team, but we never had any greater relations. He is a bit younger than me and it is great that now in Zawiercie we have the opportunity to get to know each other better, support each other and spend some time together.
PLUSLIGA.PL: In the past, you played in strong Italian clubs – Perugia, Trentino and Piacenza, and recently in the increasingly strong Japanese league. Is now the best time for PlusLiga, from which you probably had interesting offers before?That's true. In Japan, I had the opportunity to experience a slightly different style of volleyball and I felt very good there. After two seasons spent in the Japanese league, I wanted to return to Europe, to a top and class team, which is currently Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie. An additional advantage was the opportunity to debut in such a strong league as PlusLiga. Playing in Poland is pure madness and I think that currently it is the best competition in the world. I am very lucky that I got such an opportunity. PLUSLIGA.PL: Like your colleague from the US national team – Matthew Anderson, after two bronze Olympic medals in Rio de Janeiro and recently in Paris, are you slowly starting to think about the games in Los Angeles, which will be special for American athletes?For now, I am mentally very far from such thoughts. I am focusing on the club season in PlusLiga. Of course, there are already some moves in the US national volleyball team and we are waiting for a new coach. We do not know yet who will be this coach. However, there is a long way to the next Olympic tournament. We do not have to qualify for it, because we have secured participation as the host. It would be great to play in Los Angeles in front of our home crowd, but four years is a long time. At some point I will have to assess my health condition, my shape and how my family is feeling. We will see how it all looks.

ZAKSA got its first win over Olsztyn. Smith didn't play. Good passing stats and 11 digs from Shoji.
Szerszen had 15 points and hit well, but passing was nothing special. Olsztyn is taking a huge step backwards this year.

People who follow the PlusLiga and aren't in Poland, how do you get the matches? The YouTube channel that I was using to watch dome of the matches got taken down and so far the only alternatives I've found are sketchy Russian sites. Any suggestions?

I had heard this coming down the pipeline and Erik Shoji confirmed that the Plusliga will now be streamed by VBTY ! tv.volleyballworld.com/and he posted a 20% off coupon This is great news |

The first match had the Polstat feed, which is wonderful. Though there was no commentary.
I am also concerned they only show select matches, because the ZAKSA/Gdansk match does not show up in the "Live and Upcoming" section.

Well Milano just swept Lube. I didn't see that coming.
Reggers is that guy for Milano, though he did get some good help from Kaziyski.
Lube was a mess. Bottolo was their best player and highest point scorer. Ðirlic was really good off the bench for a struggling Lagumdzija.
Loeppky was awful. 2 kills in 3 sets. Aced 5 times. Just bad. I figured when Nikolov gets fully healthy, it'd be Bottolo on the bench but Loeppky has made his case to be on the sidelines.

If they can get him just a little more consistent help, Milano might not be as bad off as I thought. Wonder what the deal with Otsuka is. I hope they didn't bring him in just to have him sit on the bench. It's a shame we won't see him in VNL this year. Milano's issue is clearly going to be on the left. You nailed it because I can't identify a consistent scoring threat on the outside. Otsuka showed promise in national team season, but I think he was dressed as the second libero in the club opener. "Good enough" may be the unofficial goal for this squad. |
