Jackson is a tremendous athlete, but I doubt she gets up as high as Skinner, who is absolutely a world-class volleyball athlete (and a heck of a player of course). I think that the people following the college players this summer pretty well agreed that the pro-readiness rankings of current NCAA players goes something like this: 1. Madi Skinner 2. Sarah Franklin 3. Lexi Rodriguez (could switch Sarah and Lexi easily) 4. Sophie Fisher 5. everyone else Point is, Nebraska's starter-level depth and lack of question marks is impressive; Madi Skinner is more impressive. After watching NORCECA Final Six, I think the gap for Sarah and Lexi going pro is not so big. I agree there isn't anyone currently at Nebraska bringing the firepower that Madi is. Yeah, but one of these days a Nebraska superstar will avail themselves. I mean, with all the highly ranked athletes they are recruiting, the gold has to arrive in the pan at some point.

tbh I was surprised as well only because that has never really been Madi's storyline while in college but I'm sure now ESPN will have a field day with that one Wait what? A huge part of Skinner’s game has been her point of contact, particularly the past two years as she’s grown to develop a confidence and comfort level. But even as a freshman I remember a swing of her just hitting right over Fields lol. Not so much her hitting over blockers but rather the data point of her touch and how it compares to Vargas, arguably one of the best players in the world.

FSU ranked that high. That's the one team I didn't have in. Just out. Curious why ya'll think they will be that good. Audrey Koenig, Taylor Head, Khori Louis Yeah, I definitely forgot to include FSU. For some reason, I thought they lost some more talent to transfer portal/graduation, but it was really just Robey. Adding Taylor Head was big. I can’t imagine they’re not in my top 25 next week, especially if they beat Georgia.

Kinda surprised that VT voted Texas as #1, given that we lose 3 starters and Nebraska returns all theirs not like the nc was a close battle That's kinda my point... we aren't fielding the NC team

Washington State getting a vote is hilarious As a Washington fan I'm all good with UW not getting any votes. That's sensible. But putting a Washington State vote in there is some serious salt in the wound %*$#e.

Nebraska has a better returning roster, but Texas having just beat them for the title has a huge impact even though it technically shouldn’t since the team is different.

I think Franklin, Rodriguez and Fischer (my bad for spelling above) are all ready to go pro. Madi is ready to make a big impact in the pros. To be fair, Beason was probably #5 though I'm not sure there would be consensus on that - probably because people wanted Babcock to start even though Beason was more ready for the moment. Objectively speaking, I do think this Nebraska team is very, very talented, but I also think that the relative weakness of the top of the B1G last year and Nebraska's surprise at Stanford when they outserved them by a crazy margin fueled a storyline which over-inflated how good people perceived them to be. That being said, in the tournament Nebraska smashed Pitt in the semis and dispatched Arkansas by a decent margin and maybe that's not appreciated enough. Anyway, if Nebraska fans choose to be unhappy (I'm not saying that's what is happening btw) about getting half the 1st place votes, minus 1, and one third place vote from a Badger fan, then whatever. In these polls we really should treat a 1% or smaller difference in total points as a virtual tie and I think that would be a fair assessment of the two teams.

Good ole over-inflated Nebraska with their sixth best setter in the B1G

I don't think anybody's arguing Skinner is the best player in college volleyball lolll. As far as verticals go tho, I remember a few months ago Allick and Jackson were in a video and asked about their verticals, to which Becca said that Andi added 3 extra inches to her vertical as of back then compared to last season. And to think that could perhaps not even be her peak? Not to say she's jumping higher than Skinner but it's definitely not outrageous to say their hops and athleticism in that department is on the same level. The VNL had a clip this summer that detailed the highest touches of all athletes currently playing and Vargas was #1 at 10'8 and Madi was #2 at 10'6 There are many professional players touching over 10’6. Where did you see this?

If they still had Robey, they’d very much be a top 15 team.
