Rice & S. Florida play Wednesday. Should be an exciting game to see who will take sole first place.

Middle of the conference is the wild, wild west. Some teams have really improved and are much more competitive this year, Tulane and Memphis perhaps the best examples of that. After the top four (Rice, USF, Tulsa and WSU), the rest of the league is very up and down, which should make for some good drama down the stretch as they narrow it down to the 8 tournament teams.

Rice & S. Florida play Wednesday. Should be an exciting game to see who will take sole first place. Rice 0-3 South Florida 21, 14, 23 Set One: USF trailed 19-21 and scored six in a row. Set Two: 12-9 for the Bulls became 20-9 and the result was just a matter of time. Set Three: USF led 22-16 before Rice went on a run to tie the score at 23. Two blocks and the Bulls won the match. Foe the Bulls, Andrade was 21-4-42 for .405, and Sawtelle was 19-2-32 for .531. The pair had 40 of the 49 kills by USF. As a team, USF was .316 v .184.

Rice seems to be susceptible to outsides going off on them. Andrade (.240) and Sawtelle (.202) are good, but nearly .500 combined good? I don't know. Earlier in the year Burks from Tulane went for 27 kills on Rice and Parra from TCU had 24 in 4 sets (which is a pretty normal night for her) and Tornatta from Tulsa had 20 kills in 4 sets. Last night's result definitely changed the narrative on who's the clear favorite in the conference.

Why did Cindy Tchouangwa not play in the Rice vs FAU game?

I feel like the conference race is wide open. Rice doesn't have like anything to sell for good wins. Tulsa did beat Arkansas, but, they are looking to be too far out at this point. Definitely interested in the Home & Home series upcoming for Wichita State/Tulsa

Correct, I am just saying which teams will actually end up making it and then who prevails. We have a cluster of teams sitting at 5-3 and 4-4, all who could easily be in each other's positions barring a few points going the other team's way. Especially now getting into the back half of conference play, these teams have seen and will see a few teams twice and splits are more than likely with the way things are shaping up.

Rice is without its top offensive player for at least a few weeks. Also, one of the starting liberals/DS is out for a bit.
