wonder if we go back to Ella setting like we started against Wisconsin or if Averi rides it out
Wenaas held up pretty well passing in all six rotations. Minnesota (to me) seemed like a more aggressive serving team than Wisconsin, how does she hold up? I also expect Minnesota to go right at her versus how Wisconsin mixed it around a bit
can we set Madi higher and from the team overall get better quality swings?

Going in with low expectations but would love to take a set and at least see our passing and serving improve.

I voted Minnesota takes a set, because I think they are good enough and Texas is still figuring things out, but I also think Minnesota is gonna feel that 5 setter from today still. Totally possible they just lose steam at the end of each set and this could be a sweep.

JE tends to be loyal to his returning players until it reaches a point where a change obviously needs to be made. With Wiscy he needed a faster offense. It may be true with Minny as well, but unless the 1st set plays out the same as against Wiscy, he'll start Ella.

It’s hard to be terribly concerned about Skinner. She started off slow two years ago. She started off slow last year. Might as we make it a trifecta. All three times the primary issue was connection with her setter. Why do I feel like it’s going to be fine? Oh that’s right. Because she’s mf’ing Madi Skinner.
I have personal issues watching Wenaas, which is my problem, not her’s. She played fine against Wisconsin she played more than fine against Nebraska in the championship match. I need to channel my inner Frozen and let it go, just let it go.
Singletary looks like a complete bad@ss. She has to have one of the most explosive attacks in front of the setter in volleyball already. And she’s going to be the next great blocker for Texas. Chk chk indeed.
Ames is a true freshman. She’ll be fine. Middle blocker is tough to come in as a true freshman and start. Texas hadn’t had anyone since Ogbogu, and even she wasn’t penciled in as the starter from the get go.
Rutherford is a breath of fresh air. If Molly was the surgeon, Rutherford is the sledgehammer.
Halter and Akana are as good a one two combo in the backcourt as there is, especially when serving is thrown in. Returning for their third go around, and in Akana’s case, her last hurrah. Thanks John Cook for not wasting a scholarship on a player who wouldn’t stick around because she allegedly insisted on being the starting libero. It’s not like Nebraska has missed her..except maybe in that one match.
I did not see Binney being the third little. Another in a long line of a very fruitful Rainbow Connection.
I have no idea what Elliott is going to do with setter. He started Swindle and then Carlson played most of the match. Carlson looks like the better setter for the middles and Rutherford, and had a decent connection with Wenaas. Swindle looks like the better setter for Skinner right now, and is the better blocker and attacker on two. I like them both.
Texas has a long ways to go to get tournament ready…but there’s a long ways to go until it occurs, so all is well. I think Texas has way too much firepower for Minnesota, but the Gophers looked much improved from last year. The most interesting thing to me will be to make a comparison between Minnesota and Wisconsin in terms of how both programs handle Stanford and Texas, but I don’t see the Gophers coming out with a win based on how both teams played today. Just my opinion.

Texas will blow out MN in 2 of the sets and 2 more sets will be competitive. 3-1 Texas wih Skinner having a monster match.

Jerseys. Was a coin flip on who wore their home jerseys yesterday? Both higher ranked teams wore their travel jerseys while the lower ranked wore their home "whites". Or was it a homer decision to let the two BIG teams wear their whites?
Or just fairness/laundry issue? i.e. the higher ranked will wear their whites today?

Stanford is one of the toughest serving teams (albeit error prone) so hopefully the gophers can pass a little better. Obviously Minnesota isn’t expected to win but they did hit over .300 against Stanford and looked really great in some stretches of the match. I feel like this early people are a bit too high on Texas and a bit too low on Minnesota. Texas still takes this but I think and hope it’ll be fairly competitive
