Just watched the fifth set. I know it's not possible but if this loss will stop the incredibly inane "WE.ARE.TEXAS" chant, I'm 100% for it. Amen x a million. Profoundly annoying.

I smell upset. Miami plays dangerously, and it might pay off. I watched them "upset"? Indiana last night. They don't have a stiff block and their arms weren't as heavy as Indiana's side. One or two have a jump top spin serve, but doesn't have the velocity compared to Boilermakers.

it’s definitely wood, when do teams have to have teraflex by? They’ll rent a taraflex floor if they host a regional. It’s not a requirement for the first two rounds. It’s not a matter of want to or financial commitment. Where they play is not under the auspices of the athletic department. It’s the recreation center for the general student body. Athletic department events there are rented from the administration of the rec center. Even though they’re all under the auspices of the University of Texas, these things matter from an organizational point of view. There’s no where to store the taraflex floor when not in use. So it has to be a wood floor for general rec use. Until the volleyball only facility is built - and preliminary plans were announced but there’s no budget or timeline for it, so who knows when it’s going to happen - there will be no taraflex floor. But the rule is already in place. To be honest, I’m not sure at this point Texas needs to be all that concerned about needing to have a taraflex floor to host regionals in any case. Was there ever any consideration of moving Volleyball into the new basketball arena?

Was there ever any consideration of moving Volleyball into the new basketball arena? Elliott likes the atmosphere at Gregory. Moody Center wouldn’t even sell out half the arena. Also, part of the agreement for the Moody Center to be built with no funds from UT is that UT only has access to it a limited number of times per year for men’s/women’s home basketball games and special events (graduations, etc.). I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult to host a few matches there, but there may be a logistics issue in terms of the number of dates Texas can use the facility. I don’t know that it’s an issue. But I do know there are a limited number of dates Texas can use the facility. But the bigger deal is Texas Volleyball can’t pack the place, so Elliott doesn’t want to hold a volleyball event there until he feels confident of that. It could be a regional would be hosted there, but I doubt it. The atmosphere at Gregory for regionals is outstanding.

I only got through the 4th set on a re-watch but I had her at 2.35 through 4 sets and Jenna hovering close to 2. I counted 6 perfect passes from Halter that Texas lost the point on a block, hitting error, or Miami transition kill. Although in Jenna’s defense I had Texas FBSO off 57% of her passes through 4 sets. Halter was around 35%.

Are we in the upside-down?

They both finished the match under 40% FBSO (I cant sort by set) if you remind me tonight/later, I can go through the passes and see what happened.

Also, was I crazy, or did I see Elliott put Skinner at L1 in set 5? Can anyone with a better eye than me confirm this?
