Miami: 1.71 Carney: 1.65 (29) Gursching: 1.71 (26) Heredia: 1.71 (19) Lopez: 2.33 (6) Rosado: 1.78 (9) Texas: 2.23 Wenaas: 1.92 (36) Halter: 2.48 (31) Skinner: 2.40 (10) Akana: 2.50 (8) We are living in a world where Texas is consistently winning the serve-pass battle but doesn’t have the transition offense to consistently win points. Are we in the upside-down? The same world where Skinner is hitting a team low .186. After a good showing in VNL competition and a dominant NCAA tournament last year, this is a BRUTAL start to the year for a team that really was relying on her to lead the way as the only returning high level attacker.

Skinner's also dealing with some tough setting. I get why they wanted to see if they could use Carlson, but honestly, just go back to Swindle. You know it works, yaknow?

Agree that the setting hasn’t been great, but it also hasn’t been THAT bad, especially in the last two matches where I thought the sets were much improved. I would like to see what a 5-2 looks like but I don’t think that’s likely.

I keep waffling but as of this morning, I’m team go back to swindle. Carlson will be more than useful off the bench, but you know what you have in swindle and that’s a stronger connection with our best hitter. You gotta lean into that, I think.

Besides the setting, it’s clear every team has her scouted very very well. I’d expect her to adjust, but that can’t happen until the setting stabilizes.

Looking at these numbers our block needs to step up expeditiously. No time to waste here.
