Hanson was OH1 vs Auburn

Aside from Shaff having to move from back to the net area on the serve I don’t know why the OH - setter connection would be any different except in ro1 when Grote is front left and OH1 is front right.

Seems like whoever has the most dynamic RS attack should be OH1. At this point it’s Hanson, but I don’t recall many RS sideouts in Ro1

From the opp’s viewpoint you want your best block facing the OH1 also making it easier for Wookie as OH2

If Hanson is OH2 you have a biq or pipe set options in ro1 as she has been more effective than McKenna from behind the attack line. Bottom line: a Good pass, better than our norm, facilitates FBSOs in Ro1.

McGhie, after great serving vs TCU, was ineffective tonight and replaced by Crowl in 3rd set
Some time in the gym practicing trajectories just over the top of the net must have happened
On any number of serves I thought a serve wouldn't clear but they did!
After Alex's performance I seriously doubt we'll see Wookie serving barring some miraculous turnaround in practice.

If Shaff never feeds Phoebe then Wookie will always be facing a wall.  She had a couple of crosscourt kills with pace, but most of her kills were from off speed tips and roll shots.  and she is not adept at offensive tips.  Shaff rarely sets wider to give Wookie line attacks.  I think sets that bring her inside could open seams in the block and offer more crosscourt potential.

I love to see a cross with Wookie coming further inside and Phoebe circling behind her.

My observation during McGhie’s serving rotation:

Auburn had her number and tipped it to the middle of the court or right over the block every. Single. Time. And successfully.

Until she can pickup on those tips, keep crowl in as serving sub. She’s got the length and her serve is pretty consistent as well.

Crowl should not be a serving sub at all. The Gophers have lost 15 of the 17 points she has served.
