Scrimmage at Lewis was entertaining yesterday. Quality volleyball all around, Lewis and Ball St should be the preseason favorites to win the MIVA. I just don’t know how Loyola will respond after losing Hawks and hearing that assistant Lindsay Brown will be joining him. Van Buren did not play in the scrimmage, and Loyola has more than enough pieces, but looked out of sorts too man6 times. Roosevelt making the switch from NAIA did a solid job at times, and was really scrappy but has a long way to go. Mckendree will be a team that looks like a top 3 or 4 MiVA team with a good chance to move up and challenge for a title. As always it should be a wild year in the MIVA

Any particular reason they are play CUI and Menlo 4 times each? Seems excessive.

Any particular reason they are play CUI and Menlo 4 times each? Seems excessive. assuming to fill the schedule against a like opponent and there are not many other options. They don't play BYU or Pepperdine. Maybe this year it is a trial MPSF schedule? It does show playoffs on it . Assuming Menlo and CUI have a similar arrangement, this seems like an advantage if all the league games count toward MPSF playoffs and seeding. If one of those 3 run the table on the other 2 and pick up a lucky win or two against another MPSF team could they get seeded ahead of Pepp or Stanford in the MPSF tourney?

My best guess is that some of the other MPSF teams already had full schedules when Menlo and Vanguard were announced to be moving to the MPSF. No Grand Canyon, BYU or Pepperdine I did notice that UCLA is on the schedule today but they were not yesterday when I looked, so maybe the schedule is still be finalized and those other three teams will be on the schedule after all.
