Lots of Chatter coming from the coaching trees of the Midwest. Sources close to me have been informed that UCLA has reached out to former Ball State Legend/Coach Joel. A two-time Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Coach of the Year (2001 & 2013), Joel had 23 seasons at the helm of the Cardinals ranked fourth among active NCAA men’s volleyball head coaches (Divisions I, II or III) with 403 career wins, owning an overall record of 403-230 (.637) prior to his last season coaching (2021). One of only 13 head coaches in NCAA men’s volleyball history to reach 400 career wins, doing so with a hard-fought 3-2 victory at Loyola on Feb. 22, 2020, Jo el is currently 12th on the list of all time wins. Will be good zag for west coast volleyball. This would be the equivalent to a NFL team running an offense like Navy. lol i was waiting for the classic Coins zingers

Nice plug and way to toss his name in the ring, but I'm certain the Admin in charge of this search has never heard of Joel.

Yes, this will be a big hire for them, and they are going to want to get it right. They've only had 2 coaches in program history, they will take their time with this. My guess also, is that I am sure that John was upfront with them that he was going through the process with USAV and UCLA has a short list of people that they are going to target for this job. I don't think that Keller will jump ship from USC to UCLA, he would be a pay cut for sure. One name that comes to mind is John Hawks, he's doing some good things at Loyola, but he was at UCLA with John for a long time, could see him wanting to go back. Other names to consider: Matt Werle Dan Friend (Does he finally look to leave Lewis?) Brad Rostratter (He's done a lot of National Team Stuff) David Hunt (Does he try and get back in the Men's Game, maybe the NT?) If they went after Rostratter, I'd have to jump ship. That would be a terrible move. I'm also not sure Friend would be a wise move either. I'd definitely take Hawks back. Werle has done great things as well. What’s wrong with Rostratter? He has done good things at ucsd. Each year has gotten better, and they will be pretty good this year with Dvorak coming in.

I don't follow indoor (Beach>>>) except when it comes to UCLA
my wild (uninformed and hopeful) guess is the GOAT himself, Karch Kiraly
would it be good for recruiting? go back to the Al Scates days of dominance where it's UCLA then a mile gap then everyone else?

The UCLA men's job might be the most desired job in all of men's coaching, and that includes the national team. They are going to pick up a heavy hitter, I doubt it just gets passed down to the next guy in line... no disrespect meant to Nick or Brandon. Yes, this will be a big hire for them, and they are going to want to get it right. They've only had 2 coaches in program history, they will take their time with this. Exactly. That is the concern. I don’t understand what you mean. What’s the concern? That the same coach will coach both teams.

I don’t understand what you mean. What’s the concern? That the same coach will coach both teams. Oh. I mean it worked under Speraw, so I don’t see why it couldn’t work with Kiraly. However, who knows how willing Kiraly would be to take that extra workload

I was thinking maybe Hadley Foster, the winningest coach in the storied history of Quincy University. But you’re probably right, this makes more sense.

I don’t really feel like the male players of recruiting age today care about Karch Kiraly even a little bit.
