It would if you base your ranking on how well you think the teams will do in the NCAA tournament. There are no stated criteria for ranking and that would be a legitimate basis for ranking teams.
Just to be clear, I ranked Pitt #1 but if someone ranked them #2 bc they thought Nebraska (or some other team) would beat them at the end of they year, I'd have no problem with that.
that’s not the same as basing your opinion on them for their match against Nebraska LAST year They said "Well lets hope in the tournament this year they actually beat Nebraska"
To me, that was talking about how Pitt would do in the tournament against Nebraska this year, not last year. If they think Nebraska would beat them this year, that would be a legitimate basis for ranking Nebraska ahead of Pitt. I realize they said it bc of the tournament last year but it was referring to this year's tournament.

Pitt swept #10 Oregon, #23 USC, #3 Penn St., RV Marquette, #13 Georgia Tech, and hasn't dropped a set all year. I'd get it if Pitt went 4/5 with x, y, z, but that's not what we're working with here.

Nobody should have Pitt not number 1. It's just the one voter but still lol. Disclaimer: That doesn't mean you have to admit that Pitt looking amazing now means they'll be invincible in the tournament. When was the last team that was this dominant up to this point of the season? Do we have to go back to the Penn State dynasty? 2022 Texas was pretty close (after 1st week of conference play, 5 total sets lost with a tougher schedule)

Kind of interesting that Elise McGhie and Caroline Crawford both left Kansas for greener pastures (BIG TEN) yet they're both looking up at their former team this week...

I feel like Washington has a decent case to be ranked a bit higher They do and I ranked them 16, but I think the reason they are lower is that they haven't been on the pollsters radar screens very long. They have a date with Wisco next Sunday in Madison. If they look credible against the Badgers, they will rise further.

Creighton at #3? my goat. wisconsin 1, 3, and 6 ranking positions higher than teams that beat them though… Minnesota's best wins are Texas, Auburn, and Wisconsin. They lost close 5-set matches to TCU, Baylor, and Purdue. Perhaps I have them too low, but considering where they started from in the preseason, I think #12 is a fair ranking for them. Texas' best wins are Wisconsin and Baylor. Their losses are to Minnesota, Miami, and Stanford. Perhaps they're a little high too, but considering their talent and the teams below them, I think #9 is a fair ranking for them. Stanford's best wins are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Marquette, Texas, Kentucky. They've been swept by Nebraska and Louisville. Their resume is pretty good. Their losses are too good teams, but they didn't look good at all in them. Wisconsin's best wins are TCU, Baylor, and Marquette. Their losses are to Louisville, Stanford, Texas, and Minnesota. Okay, yeah. I do have them too high. My bad. I'd probably rank them ≈#9-11 or so if I could revise my poll. Thanks for pointing that out.

USC had a swing to put the 1st set away against Pitt. Grrrrrr. "Could have been a different match" and little did we know that back then could have negated what has been a super impressive 0 set loss season so far. Klika queen (I think she dug it)
