The MWC tournament is a 2 + 4 format, where the top two teams get a bye and the next four play to see who advances to play the top two.
Halfway through the season, we have CSU at 8-2. Fresno State and SJSU at 7-3. SDSU, Boise State, Utah State at 6-4. First two out are Wyoming (5-5) and Nevada-Reno (4-6).
So SJSU is sitting as a possible top-2, and the schools that have chosen not to play them are either in the tournament or just out of it.
Will they keep refusing to play SJSU? Both Wyoming and Boise State have a second match scheduled. Choosing an automatic loss could knock them out or keep them out of the tournament. And the next two teams on the list also have chosen not to play SJSU.
It seems pretty reasonably likely that SJSU will end up matched up with one of these teams in the conference tournament.

As a CSU supporter, I’ve been wondering this too.

Could Boise State/Wyoming forfeit their match up ahead of time if they have a match with SJSU? And could the MWC replace them?

Boise State StmtBoise State forfeits the second match scheduled against SJSU. Wyoming is scheduled to play SJSU next week but I haven't seen anything about them forfeiting this time around. MW Tourney should be interesting.

If the standings stay the same as they are now leading into the tournament, then it looks like Boise could potentially face SJSU in round 2. Whether you agree with the current rules are not, no legislation or NCAA rules are going to change within the next couple of weeks. That being said, imo if you aren't willing to play SJSU then you should be left out of the tournament. Are views going to change and all of a sudden come tournament time Utah St, Boise & Wyoming will be willing to play? If so, then what was the point of forfeiting in the first place? They'll lose credibility of the "cause." If teams are going to take a stand, see it all the way through.

That being said, imo if you aren't willing to play SJSU then you should be left out of the tournament. Why? If they earn their spot, why shouldn't they be there?

Unless that would be the next round of them taking their stand...then I guess I understand it. This is a nightmare situation.

Maybe not in this instance, but I think USC should forfeit their match at Northwestern on Thursday. Cite well-being or whatever reason you need to. What's the point of playing that match? USC doesn't need it for conference standings. It won't show up on their team sheet or impact RPI, will it? I don't think that would be received so well.

Regardless of whatever these people do, the chances of Colorado State not being the Mountain West champion are small, and the chances of a Mountain West team making it past the first round of the tournament are even smaller.
SJSU is guaranteed to make the MWC tournament. With who's left on their schedule, they could very well not be a top 2 team. 2 of the other 5 teams nearly guaranteed to make the tournament have forfeit against SJSU, and the next team up did as well. It will be mildly interesting to see what they do.

I don't think that responsibility should be put on the committee. If it becomes an issue, I'd be for creating rules to prevent it.

Wyoming has forfeited their second SJSU match that was scheduled for this week.
