So basically this was a case of misunderstandings. That's unfortunate.

I think this whole thing is blown way out of proportion by the media. Most athletes are going to comment on the comment, especially when it sounded like a potential bash--especially when asked at a press conference. Coaches take media comments out of the paper and use them as motivation all the time. John Cook did nothing wrong. I don't think Sanja's comments were directed at Nebraska reading the actual article but think the Omaha World Herald or Journal Star did some creative writing and quoting.
On the whole handshake thing. Not good, but not a sign of no class, sportsmanship. The whole Washington group had some small mind game antics going on at the AA/POY banquet. I was there, I saw it, I saw the reactions of Pavan, Elmer and Houghtelling during this. it was all very subtle but very present. Basically without going into pages of writing it involved having the best team ever stand up time after time after time. Not once but four times. I found it more irritating than in poor taste or sportsmanship. So there MAY have been some frustration and bitterness shown at the end, especially if there trophy was going through the handshake line. Not good either.

Maybe that's something for John Cook and other coaches to incorporate next year.........mind games - and not just on the court but everywhere possible.

Media? The media doesn't care. The coaches and players don't care. It's been blown out of proportion _here_.

Maybe Tomasevic and Morrison didn't shake Pavan's hand. Did you ever think of that? Perhaps they had this all planned. "Let's snub Pavan. We don't like her". Does this sound preposterous, ridiculous, stupid, insane? Well that is how most of the people on this thread sound. You are taking a fine, young lady and making it seem like she purposely refused to shake hand with two players. But, if you choose to continue with this insanity, consider the fact that the Washington players refused to shake her hand. Unbelievable!!!

I overheard them say "Pavan is so Canadian, she can't function!" and then they giggled.

You know this because you actually saw it or because Sanja told the media it happened and therefore it must be fact??
