See, we are all blaming the wrong people. As I stated earlier this thread was supposed to be a reflection on the improper role of the media in creating a story out of nothing. In this case by the Omaha World Herald and then passed along by the NU volleyball announcers and finally to Heather Cox and national television.
I was watching the game with my relatives over the weekend and the topic of discussion was "did you hear how Washington bad mouthed us? etc, etc. I wanted to patiently explain the situation but you hate to come out as a know it all to your relatives. So I just sighed and let the conversation run its course. And then I did laugh. (to myself)

Wow, I don't think I've ever witnessed so much name butchering on VT before this thread.

If all you bashers of Pavan and Sanja would go back and look at a tape of the match you will see that Sanja was late getting to the end of her teams handshake line because she was celebrating while holding the trophy. By the time that she got to the net to shake hands the NU players were already starting to do their own joining of their own hands and some including Pavan probably didn't even know that Sanja had now joined the line.
You bashers are all trying to make something out of nothing!

Everyone, please give this thread a rest. The two top teams played for the national championship and one happened to play better than the other on that night. End of story. It's pointless and a waste of time to criticize either team for such trivial things.

I overheard them say "Pavan is so Canadian, she can't function!" and then they giggled. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! That was the quote of the year! FOr all you folks out there who haven't watched Mean Girls, I just want to explain my laugh at these.... I'm not laughing at Pavan or her country of origin. I have respect for both. This is just a reinvention of a line taken from the movie. And to Puka Pants I have just one question, "Why was she dressed so scary?"

I thought Tomasevic's comments were hilarious on how she can now say that they "crushed Nebraska". It seemed very Yugoslavian. It comes across rather blunt in the translation. Refering to the vaunted Nebraska and their big block as "King Kong" was also quite funny. I thought John Cook posting the article was lame. Not horrible or irresponsible, just lame.

Who gives a rat's ass if granny tomato-bisque said "we crushed nebraska" in a postgame comment? Have you people never played a sport yourself? After several years in high school, club, and college programs you become acquainted with hundreds of fellow athletes all over the nation and a few of them become more than acquaintances. If at a tournament your team sweeps a team composed of all your best friends, that doesn't change your answer later on when someone asks "so how did your team do", you're going to answer "Oh my god we had the match of our lives and totally crushed them, it was incredible!"

Talk about having a bad attitude, Sonja has been the biggest whinner in the Pac-10. She argues every time a call is made against Washington. And did she share the trophy with any of her teammates. By the look of things it was her win only. Bye bye old lady. Time for the young players to shine

WOW some of you guys are crazy....you need to get a life and stop bashing young ladies(even when they are 25,that's still young in my book, maybe because I am old,hahaha)....both Sonja and Pavan are great young ladies with great volleyball skills....and they don't care what we have to say...but if you love volleyball(I assume you do...since you are here) you should show respect to two of four best volleyball players in the country....peace out...and don't forget after all is said and done washington did "crush" nebraska

25 is a lot older than most college players, but sometimes her attitude was like that of an 16 yr old.

Tomasevic rocks! She's a great player. Lots of players grovel for calls from the ref. They're just angling for calls to go their way next time around. It's just part of the game. Those of you hating on her sound quite bitter.
