I think it's a decent poll. I would have dropped USC below UW. I also think LBSU and Oregon are seriously underranked. Plus, Oklahoma should be higher than Missouri. Long Beach State sweeps Missouri, and it was our first match of the year......both of these teams, LBS and Oregon are being slighted in the poll!

Are you still talking about that Missouri win? The first match of the year? Really? Enough already I like LBSU & Oregon and agree with Pablo's placement of them more than AVCA.

Interesting. Clearly your view on who is good and who isn't is very skewed.

No way that Minnesota can hold down Hooker and Engle. If Texas blocks the way they did the other nite, it would be a 3 game sweep. UM and Purdue is a big toss-up, not sure which team would show up for either of them.

How is Oregon not ranked _especially_ if California only drops 3 spots? I say total RIP OFF!.......Oregon deserves to be ranked !...

I would not include Florida in the top 8.....they will need a very friendly draw to ever get to the elite 8 this year.....but then again Mary always seems to get the good draw.....in spite of that they never seem to quite get to where their talent should take them!

How does New Mexico State drop? Well I guess it is in who you play and beat as well as what happens to the teams ahead of you in the poll. I'm still scratching my head at dropping 1... I'm still scratching my Ass after NMSU beat Hawai'i........LOL..... I guess you guys were lucky beating Hawai'i considering 3 of Hawai'i starters are out for the season including Hawai'i's best ball-control player Tara Hittle. You guys got really lucky. Now imagining playing Hawai'i with all of their starters, NO CHANCE ! but I'm not going to use that as an excuse....nice win though...

Even if they did lose to Stanford, beating Cal at Cal should've been enough to get into the top 25. Was there another unranked school last week that beat a top10 and got into the top25?

If Utah stays healthy, they don't lose the rest of the year (which I think is very doable-is that a word). Gives them a nice seed for the tourney and, I think, Sweet Sixteen.

Talk about ironies. I was about to blast the AVCA voters for ranking Duke when by rights they ought to have given some sort of rank to Oregon, when I look at this week's Pablo ranking. ... 18. Oregon 19. Duke ... Mind you, Oregon did something this week and earned only the uncoveted distinction of being the unranked team with the most votes, but maybe Duke has a claim to being underrated as well.

Somebody, Bear Clause or another Cal fan, explain to me how Cal is still #11. Who have the big, bad Bears defeated that merits 5 losses and a #11 ranking? I have seen this team on TV twice and it has not been pretty. 16 thru 19 maybe, but not #11.

I'll add my gripe, since the weekly post of the AVCA poll seems to be the place to do it. #1 Nebraska has 1480 total votes, including 43 first-place votes. Those account for 1,075 of their points. The other 17 first-place votes went to Penn State. I assumed that those voters put Nebraska #2, which would give them 408 more points. But 1,075 + 408 = 1483, not 1480. There are between 1-3 coaches who don't have Nebraska in the top 2. TRAVESTY!
Take this post with a grain of salt, I'm not really complaining, but come on! Nebraska and Penn State should be a unanimous top 2. Stanford, UCLA, etc. may be better than Nebraska and Penn State right now, who knows, but don't you have to reward them for their undefeated seasons with the top 2 spots.

Wow, spots 10-14 are only separated by 90 votes, while 9 is 160 votes ahead of 10, and 14 is 159 ahead of 15.
There's definitely some clear breaks in the poll in the minds of the voters.

Yes, I don't know why CAL is ranked so high. Those were signicant losses. I don't really think they played tough teams before the season started. I attended the Baylor game at home and walked out after the second game. It was so boring..not even the caliber of a top 18's club team. I know many of those girls on the team and have been following them for the past four years. I admit I haven't seen them play since but hope to come down for the USC or UCLA matches. I am hoping to see Mindi play. I agree she has great potential and she seems to like it at CAL. She never peaked in high school or club. She didn't even make the mvp of her high school league. I am hoping she will enjoy this higher level of play and will see a big improvement in her play. She never was very consistent in high school and I hope it was just boredom. I think her in the middle could be a big difference in future games if she can handle the pace, etc.

I'm not big on rankings for sports either. But in the NCAA this pole is taken into LARGE consideration. So it means something as far as seedings go. its not taken AT ALL into consideration, FYI.
