Bik, is it a coincidence that you failed to address the UH/Missouri match? Now if Hawaii has all of these excuses for not getting it done, why would PSU also not have circumstances that contribute to losing a few matches. PSU lost one of the best players in the country in Harmotto a week before the NCAA's, "Hawaii playing without it's starting libero....that is not a choke. Well under that rationale, PSU didn't choke either. Your talking out of both sides of your mouth or your other end. Didn't PSU and Hawaii also play on a neutral floor last year. Selective reasoning, apparently. Apparently, Minnesota has still Never beaten Hawai'i. ;D

Has Minnesota ever played Hawaii in a non-home match for the Wahine?
I've seen Hawaii play in Minnesota though; back in 1988 when they beat Illinois then lost to Texas.

People, people, people...please stop. I don't like a Gopher-Wahine war. License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.

No, Hawaii has never played Minnesota anywhere but in Hawaii. Usually, we only see Hawaii schedule a match with Minnesota every 4 years or so. Hawaii has matched up with Minnesota only 6 times, all in Hawaii and all wins by the Wahine.

I guess the Gophers are about due for another trip to Hawaii soon in that case.

I guess the Gophers are about due for another trip to Hawaii soon in that case. Probably. The trips to Hawaii were in 1986 (2 matches), 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003. Would not be surprised to see the Gophers back in Hawaii in 2007 or 2008. However, it seems Minnesota is doing a lot of scheduling with Nebraska, so they may not have the ability to schedule Hawaii.

They may have played both in 2003, I'd have to go back an check.
I guess it depends on whether they could get Nebraska to play at Minnesota and how strong the coaches believe their team will be for 2007 without Cumpston, Nelson, and Peniata and bringing in more strong frosh.
I'd potentially try to save my sheckels for a early season trip to Hawaii next year.
Now sure I'd want (or be able) to make such a trip later this year if the Gophers are in the Hawaii region and make it to the regional though.

Also, I am not going to beat this into the ground, but the Wisconsin-Hawaii match was in Green Bay, 140 miles from the UW campus in actual distance and light years culturally. Most of the fans knew the words to "Varsity," but it wasn't on the Badgers' home court or a court where they had ever played before, except maybe some of them in the high school championships. The match made the trip to Green Bay in December worth it.

They may have played both in 2003, I'd have to go back an check. Hmm... I don't think so. In 2003, we started in Hawaii, and then went to Florida. Our home tournament was mainly weak teams, and we still nearly lost it. Then we played UNI in Rochester, and opened the BigTen season at Indiana and Purdue. In the NCAA tournament, we didn't encounter Nebraska either. I hope it happens, but it's gonna be tough for me to schedule the time. I've charted out my vacation, and it looks tight for 2007 VB trips. If we're there, I'll be there... somehow. I hear they sell little boats out on the west coast. Maybe I could row myself over and save a couple sheckels.

Minnesotans don't do well with extra sun. I can't imagine why.
