Now the next question is, who are the Top 16 seeds as of today?
*Will the Committee seed Purdue, Minnesota and Wisconsin -- and, if so, will they all get to play at home? It helps that Ohio State, Notre Dame and Louisville look like unlikely seeds. *What about Ohio? *I'm betting California, San Diego and Cal Poly will not be seeded, whether they deserve it or not. *Can Hawaii lose a 2nd time to NMSU and be seeded?
So (a guess):
1--Penn State (Florida regional) 2--Stanford (Hawaii regional) 3--Nebraska (Texas regional) 4--UCLA or UW (Washington regional)
5--UW or UCLA 6--this one is up for grabs 7--Texas 8--Florida
9--LSU? 10--Hawaii? 11-- 12--
13-- 14-- 15--Hawaii? 16--LSU?
The other 7 seeds: USC, Utah, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue and two mystery teams. I suppose it could be a couple more CA schools and they make them travel...

Of course, Hawai'i would need to get out of the sub-regional for MN to even face them.

I'd settle for an Elite 8 loss -- which is what it would probably have to be if Minnesota were to lose to Hawaii.
I think we'd both love to see our teams play for a chance to go to Omaha, no?

Poly is #12 in the Pablo and #14 in the RKRPi. If they win out, they should be a lock for one of the seeds. You are listing Hawaii, who Poly split with AT Hawaii, and Texas who Poly also beat.

Yep. What I meant to say -- and sort of clarified later -- was that those teams would probably not host. They could still easily be top 16 seeds.
However, as we've seen in the past, the Committee will fudge seeds to make their brackets do their geographic dance.

And Hawaii will be seeded because the Committee needs them to get to their regional -- no matter what happens with NMSU. They may even give them a couple of byes. You know the Committee. Always rigging things in favor of the Wahine.

It will be interesting to see if Texas, Florida, or Washington get sent on the road for the first two rounds ala MN in 2004. If you recall, MN was a top 4 seed but was sent on the road for the first two rounds as they were hosting the regional. And, true, it wasn't the toughest sub-regional that year.
I could see Hawai'i staying at home for the sub-regional and regional due to Hawai'i being sent on the road for the sub's that past couple of years. However, I think they need to win their conference tournament to justify hosting the sub-regionals. It would be tough to justify hosting throughout for a 15-16 seed.

Florida's unlikely because they need a southeastern team. Or, if they are sent somewhere, it won't be across country.
I'd guess the same for Texas. UW is another story. They don't need a NW team, necessarily.

So you think Texas will be sent to Hawaii instead of their own regional? Not sure that Nebraska will go to Texas either, just because of the whole being in the same conference thing.

So, you don't think Texas will be in their own regional? (#3 seed matches up with the #6, not #7 seed). If Oklahama ends up 2nd in the Big 12, where they are currently at, do they get a top 16 seed? They've split with Texas, but non-conference schedule was fairly weak. Pablo loves them at #8.

I could see Nebraska being sent to Washington and UCLA to Texas to avoid the conference matchups.

Yes, that was a mistake. Thank you. Thank you very much.
Texas would be #6, 11 or 14 in the scenario above.

I could see Nebraska being sent to Washington and UCLA to Texas to avoid the conference matchups. They aren't concerned with conference matchups in the regionals. And they want Nebraska at Omaha. I think this means they do NOT go to UW.
