A lot of the west coast kids go to beach. That's why beach volleyball had been more successful than indoors for the US

hahaha tis how nature intended it to be only west coast athletes should make up the natl vb team if success is to be achieved This might be an interesting idea. Thus we would be able to see “West Team USA”, “East Team USA”, “Midwest Team USA”…may be also Team CA, Team Nebraska, Team IL, Team FL and so on. Having in mind a couple of weeks ago FIVB approved a request from all “British” countries (Scotland, England, Ireland, Wells, etc) so now they will compete with one unified team under the name of “Great Britain”, if USAV files a request to FIVB most likely it is going to be approved. ;D

If just a fourth of the players that are being touted on this thread are on our National Team for the 2008 Olympics, we are gonna get our asses kicked in Bejing.....it's less than 2 years away and you don't develop international calibre players in 2 or even 3 years.....you all need to get a gripm come back to reality, and get real here......for a multitude of reasons we are NOT developing International Style players, on the women's side, right now in this country. USA Volleyball has put a priority on the Men's game(for reasons I will not understand given the fact that we have only about 20 D-1 programs in this country right now compared to over 320 women's programs) and until the priorities are switched around a little anyway, and they move our women's team to Southern California, the hotbed of volleyball in this nations(sorry Huskers and Wahine followers) things will not begin to move in the direction that they need to go to get our women on a more competitive track in the international game! Look who is running USA Volleyball......hint hint!!

It is precisely the lack of men's college programs that makes the players so good. The best of the best (MPSF) are playing with the best of the best (MPSF) and against the best of the best (MPSF) day in and day out. A rising tide lifts all boats.
The best of the best of the women are scattered all over the country and generally play 5 really tough matches a year at most, and the rest of the roster isn't good enough to push them as hard.

That would be cool to have a West U.S.A team and a East U.S.A team and see which team wins.... maybe I should start a new forum on who should be on the west, and east teams rosters...??...!!...what do you guys think?

there is no such thing as east usa team the only reality in vb is that west coast and western players (regardless of where they were born or come from as long as they played or are playing in the west) are winners the rest are worthless

If it's where someone goes to school, West Coast is doing pretty well (BTW, what counts as West Coast? WA? Hawaii?). If it's where they're from, you lose a lot of big guns: Bryn Kehoe, Kristin Richards, Foluke, Ogonna Nnamani, Kristin Folkl, Logan Tom, Nana Meriwether, Nellie Spicer, Asia Kaczor, Katelyn Bishop, Deborah Seilhamer. . .and I'm sure others.

I say if you're from the midwest, then you're from the west. Same with the mideast being from the east.
