which brings up an interesting point. what do they use, exactly, to determine 1st team setter honors? Which is most important. Is it assists? Team hitting percentage? blocks, kills, digs? are they looking just at assist stats or all around? where's BearClause, he would know ....

I love Kanoe, but would take at least Thompson and Spicer before her.

I love Kanoe, but would take at least Thompson and Spicer before her. Yeah, but you have a funky east-coast loser style of volleyball.

I don't think KK will make the first team, regardless of how far Hawaii goes. I saw her as a 1st team lock last year, and she dropped to 3rd. This year her numbers are slightly lower than last year, and Hawaii has the perception of being down. I think she's 2nd at best.
Not sure if a libero will crack the first team. When Paula did, she had 900+ digs and got them to the Final Four. I can see Deborah and Elyseb ing front runners to get on a 2nd or 3rd team. I think the way many conferences didn't even vote a libero on the actual all-conference team is telling of what we can expect with the All-America lists.
Anyone have Toone's numbers? That's a good pick for the 12th spot.
Any takers on the 12 member second team? I have Fawcett and Engle as locks on there.
I think McCray is too one-dimentional to get anything above HM. She hits and blocks well, but no all-around game can hurt her. I can see Cusak or Bowers making the 2nd or 3rd team before her. Nothing against her -- she's a stud -- but rarely does a front-row-only Opp makes teams 1-3.

I love Kanoe, but would take at least Thompson and Spicer before her. Thompson is a system setter. Put her in Kanoe's shoes this year and see how great she is.

Have you watched UW this year. Not the 'in system' team as last year.

I love it when people underestimate CT... her "system" is about as simple as they come, yet so effective. She has done well with subpar passing this year (and her freshman year).

Foluke Akinradewo, MB, Stanford, So Cynthia Barboza, OH, Stanford, So Asia Kaczor, Opp, USC, Jr Megan Hodge, OH, PSU, Fr Jordan Larson, OH, Nebraska, So Angie McGinnis, S, Florida, Jr Nana Meriwether, MB, UCLA, Sr Christal Morrison, OH, Washington, Jr Sarah Pavan, Opp, Nebraska, Jr Nellie Spicer, S, UCLA, So Courtney Thompson, S, Washington, Sr
I would add one of the following: Emillie Toone, MB, Utah, Jr -- she is at 2.40 kpg (sort of low), hitting .365, with 1.94 bpg (that could get her on the 1st team) -or- Arial Salvo, OH, Utah, So -- she is more impressive to me, with 4.25 kpg, hitting .297, 3.41 dpg, .80 bpg, and leading the team with 43 aces.
Add Salvo, and that is a YOUNG 1st team!

How about Shonda Cole for the final spot?
5.76 kpg, .288, 2.16 dpg, .75 bpg, leads the team with 47 aces. She doesn't have much help around her, but she gets the job done.

No way, they didn't even make NCAAs. Nice player, may be an HM pick, but not first team.
