Is it Klinemen plural now? That's when you know you're good... She's that good Ruffda. Unlike Sarah Pavan, not only can Alix hit the crap out of the ball but she can PASS and DIG consistently...... Are you just repeating hype or have you seen her play? I have seen her play, and as has been discussed on this board and the other, several teams have gone after Klineman on serve receive in HS/club ball. Is she better than most girls her age? Yes. But will she don the cardinal uni and immediately pass at or above the level of current experienced D1 players? Highly unlikely. For example, Barboza is a great player all around and a real pleasure to watch, but if you review video of her this year, she has had her share of overpasses that resulted in kills by the opposing team. Calm down and let your players be human, otherwise when they do make mistakes (as will all players), the backlash will be nasty.

I dunno, I can think of a lot of teams that wouldn't mind having a player than passes and digs as inconsistently as Pavan.
She averaged just under 3.00 (23 / 8) digs per game in the Final Four against two of the best teams in D1.

I think they lose on a neutral floor 3 out of 4 times. That's fine letch, but as I've said before, then all other non-neutral site champians now loose their champianship. Please inform them to mail back their rings. In fact, any game not at a neutral location will disqualify you from now on. To try to lessen a win because of that is just ridiculous if you don't do the above. I know I wouldn't be able to predict that, because they surprised me coming back down 2 in a neutral location.

This is ridiculous! I don't get how some PEOPLE can be so mean and outright brutal in criticizing a player like Pavan or Barboza, when one shanks a pass or commit a hitting error, the pressure that is placed on these girls are unbelievable, THEY'RE HUMAN people!

Alix does not have anywhere the same type of heat like Pavan. Alix will probably be a better defender but she'll have to adjust to the speed of the college game. From what I have seen her approach is slow but she does contact the ball high. Huskers have a bigger advantage getting back a healthy Houghtelling than Stanford getting Alix as a freshman. Advantage Huskers!

The people that were ripping on Pavan for much of this season for saying that she wasn't going to let Nebraska lose this year may now apologize for disparaging her. She came up big in the tournament when they needed her the most. To Gorf, lilred, holidayhusker, and all other Pavan/Husker fans - I humbly and sincerely apologize for any bad remark about Sarah Pavan. Remember when I said I tried to like her but couldn't? Well, she proved me wrong BIG TIME. She played so great in that final. Stanford just could not stop her. She made me eat my words. So Happy Holidays everyone, and congratulations to Nebraska. We now return you to our regularly scheduled bitchfest about whatever people bitch about on here.

I am a huge fan of the Cardinal, but I must give congratulations to the Huskers. What they accomplished this year is astounding. The Huskers were down after losing game one and were down in game 3 but played solid, high level volleyball and won the match. They played brilliant volleyball and deserved to win. Congratulations to Stanford too. They will be better next year, so I expect them in the championship game too.
I expect Klineman to make an immediate impact. People talk about her passing, but you better believe she is working on it right now. People also talk about her lack of heat, and that is easily taught too. Speeding up a players approach is about the easiest correction you can make for an OH, so there is no doubt in my mind Klineman will be attacking at a D1 level next year. In fact, I believe she will be a first teamer.
CB will have a breakout year next year, and you couldn't ask for a better senior leader than Bryn Kehoe at setter. Look for Klineman to feed off Bryn's energy...exactly what a freshman of Klineman's caliber needs.
But this year was definitely the year of the Huskers. To do it in the fashion they did, staying No. 1 all year, is a tremendous effort, and all the congratulations goes to the players who put in the effort. I really like Houghtelling and feel bad that she missed out on this one. People were talking about pressure this year for the Huskers, next year will be no different. 2 AVCA players of the year, potential third in Larson, returning setter and Stalls!!! Come on, they should be a lock for the finals, and anything less than a repeat national championship is going to be a disappointment.
Next year is going to be some awesome volleyball, I can't wait.

I believe there is some misconception about Klineman in the back row. She is a fine passer, having played all through the JNT NORCECA tournament this past summer without any substitutions. The JNT team earned a gold medal in this effort. Other teams serve her in the hope of taking her out of the hitting sequence. That worked in the JO final last July when her team's passing broke down and she became the primary passer instead of the primary hitter. Don't expect to see that happen when the team as a whole is passing well. That said, I am sure she will continue to work on her passing as she knows how important it is to her game.

As tp Nebraska repeating, they certainly are returning the best talent in the country, if Houghtelling is able to play. A possible subtle difference is they now have the target on their backs; everyone wants to beat the defending champs. However, as permanent Big 12 champs that is nothing new to them; Nebraska has been the Celtics of college VB for years. They will have to avoid injuries during the season for a second consecutive year. Not sure how they are for depth next year; when Stanford lost Barboza last year, they had no replacement in place, since freshman Fisher was out, and had no real plan for that occurrence. Not saying that Nebraska should have injuries, just the odds seem against them on that. Otherwise, their #1 seed should get them #8 and #9 again in what will probably be their own regional, so a trip to the Final 4 is as close to a sure thing as there is in college volleyball. Once at the Final 4 they will be hard to beat, although Stanford may want it more after having hearts broken this ear.

I think Nebraska should stay with the 5-1 next year, as long as Houghtelling is healthy. Holloway is okay on the block, and why would you want anyone other than Larson, Pavan, and a healthy Houghtelling taking swings on the outsides? In two hitter rotations, you still would have Pavan in the back row, so that shouldn't be a big issue for them. I voted "no" in this poll because I want to believe it. Go somebody else! Repeats are boring.
