It's a program which is always coming up with innovative ways to lose. That's a good one, but it seems awfully similar to the Michigan loss a couple of years ago. I think Mason's running out of ideas. For the posters earlier in the year when they were talking OSU and Iowa football now you know why I got on you. We don't have big time football here in MN (college or pro). I'm a little jealous. Although, if we did have decent teams I would still choose VB over FB. You also don't have a coach after today. 7 bowl games in 10 years wasn't enough I guess.

His 7 bowl games in 10 years was more a result of scheduling more very weak non-conference opponets to ensure 3 (or more) wins from those teams to balance the 3-5 average Big 10 conference record to be bowl eligible.
In addition with the expanded number of bowl games over those same 10 years a team would have to be extremely bad to not make it to a bowl game on a fairly regular basis. For the past several years there have been 30+ bowl games and there are only 117 NCAA DI-A football teams so more than half of those team make it to a bowl game every year.
One of his two most recent predecessors (Gutekunst) had a slightly better average conference record than Mason and was not retained after his 4th or 5th season. Gutekunst made the "mistake" of scheduling somewhat tougher non-conference opponents than Mason has during his tenure.

Question....Utah with no Salvo or Anderson......not quite what they expected.......should Utah have been replaced?

Question....Utah with no Salvo or Anderson......not quite what they expected.......should Utah have been replaced? Should they be replaced, probably. But it's just not feasible to replace them. Many teams already have their schedules set and to simply replace a team is going to be relatively difficult.

The lack of reading comprehension amongst people wondering who the 4th team would be was just staggering...

Heard a rumor that Emily Toone tore her ACL playing with her club team. Can any Ute fans confirm this? If true, what a huge blow to their program. To lose a starting setter, outside hitter and now middle hitter in 2 months is tragic. Utah will definitely not be a top 25 team this year now.

I know that Emily played in the middle of May after the A2 tournament, but I haven't heard anything about an ACL. If it did happen, it was after that time.

I like the annual ACC versus Big 10 men's basketball tour where each ACC team is paired to a Big 10 team for games at large - venue locations. These games draw over 10K spectators. In volleyball, I don't know what would draw the biggest crowds....Big 10 vs Pac 10 or Big 10 vs Big 12 or Big 12 vs Pac 10.

They are actually played as home games for schools (with each conference getting a close to equal number of home games each year).
