Stanford(#8 seed) and CSUN(#7 seed) play tonight in a MPSF tourament play-in match.
Good luck Matadors, just hope you don't have so many attacking errors that you had this past Friday night against Pepperdine. All those errors did you in especially when it came in bunches like four to six in a row.
"Our two seniors have been playing great volleyball, " Campbell said. "With the leadership of our seniors, I know we can beat Stanford. We have already beat them twice. We just did not have a great game tonight(but) they will bounce back. We will beat Stanford."
Okay guys - better back up what your coach said. As for the two seniors on CSUN's team they're Nils Nielsen and Jeff Conover. Just be consistent, serve the ball over the net, don't spike the ball into the net or waaaay out of court and you'll do just fine Matadors.
So, who do you think will win this match?
Go Matadors!

Matadors in 4!!!!!!! Game 3 was sweet 31-29. Game 4 was no contest 30-19 or so. Wow, surprisingly there were more Cardinal fans than Matadors but redshirts equal the volume of about 10 fans each

Good win for the Matadors. There is still room for improvement, but much more consistant play tonight. Nils played great. He keeps getting better at his position. This was also a better match for Cary than the last few. Keep it up guys and keep improving. Now is the time to peak!
GO MATADORS!

Seemed like a great game, but only 218 people there? I know it is a Wednesday night, but I have honestly been to Jr. High games that have had more of a crowd.
Good luck to CSUN on Sat at UCLA.

Yeah Nils has been playing great I hope he goes on to play after college. He just needs to add some meat to those bones.

As for "adding meat to those bones" . . . I think those chicken legs jump pretty good and the unmeaty arm has a pretty great swing! He has done a great job adjusting from outside hitter to opposite. He is taking a lot more swings this year at opposite and finding great success. Keep it up Nils! Go Matadors!

The story of the match was Stanford's inability to handle CSUN's serves. Hanson and Nilsen and others served great throughout. Even serves that did not go for aces resulted in poor passes which made it impossible for Stanford to get into its offense, making for predictable sets which resulted in poor hits or CSUN blocks.
CSUN is going to have to serve like that on Saturday to have any chance against UCLA. Even if they do, UCLA will be able to handle those serves better than Stanford did, I'm sure. I saw Al Scates and both of his assistants at the match, so UCLA will have a good read on what they have to prepare for come Saturday.

CSUN got the job done. Other than a couple of spots where they looked like the they fell asleap. At least they were more like naps in this match. If they can stay awake for an entire match, I think they will do well with UCLA.
In the past there have been posts about how Stanford's setter was "one of the best". I've watched him 3 matches this year and would say overall he's a good setter. His "great" skills are his dump is his whine both displayed all night.
Go Matadors!

Hahaha!!! I think his whine is better than his dump. At one point he shook his finger at us after a dump then complained to the ref. Marvin just told him we weren't saying anything wrong I guess cuz he didn't even turn around and look at us!

After watching Marv up on a few games, my guess is he did't turn to look as he can't see that far You were in the second row.

I wonder if Don Shaw regrets his decision to move to the Men's team. He certainly hasn't improved on the product.
