No. It's great you guys are promoting the sport and everything, but the Big Dance is not made for you guys. You guys would probably do great in the Molten D-3 Final Four. You said its all about the players about getting that bid to the d-1 Big Dance. It's not. It's about winning.

Relax guys. The reason this has not been announced by the NCAA is simple....IT IS NOT TRUE. My sources are good.
Shameful way to use this board....all self-promotion for these wannabees. They know by talking about it it raises the awareness and maybe someday it will be discussed by the powers-to-be.

I hear what you're saying, golddigger, but I'll disagree (somewhat). With a comparison to NCAA basketball, who would have ever thought that a Bucknell could beat Kansas, as occurred last year? It may take a long time, but eventually some of the talent might filter to the D III schools due to the opportunity to at least play in the tournament. Sometimes a couple of great players can lift a team to surprising success. Hey, it's worth a shot if it can help the sport!

I'm a little confused. If I look at the NCAA web page under Men's volleyball, Div 3 conferences, I see 6- different conferences listed. The only conference that has more than 8 teams is the NECVA(North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association) with 32 teams. CUNY has only 1 team listed -Lehman college.

From Golddigger "Why are you working for it if you already admitted you guys aren't ready for the Big Dance?!?!?" It's not about just playing. It's about letting kids across the country know about other varsity programs. At the DIII level playing is more relaxed. Yes we have tough scheduling problems with classes and such. Yes at any DIII its more about the academics, and playing is more for fun. . Offense is taken if you are going to say your scheduling problems and dedication to academics makes it harder. Take a look at the entrance requirements to a UC, Pepperdine or Stanford and let me know how the compare to NY City Tech. Look at the academic achievements of the schools and their players before you start making statements like that. This is Volleyball, most coaches I have been exposed to take academics very seriously with great results.

Looks like NYC tech coach is not a valuable source at all, and is very gullable. Why would you assume an anonymous poster has better information than a poster who has a real name? Whether it happens or not, it is obvious that NYC Tech Coach believes it. He uses his real name and posts the information. If you just wanted to start BS rumor, you would hide behind a anonymous member name like the rest of us.

First off, I'm not into rumors. I do think it is good to share information though.
On that note, I do know that the option of expanding the NCAA championship to 8 teams was discusses shortly after last year's final four. And, I know, that one of the proposals included a spot for a DIII team. However, at the time, it was unclear how the DIII team would be chosen. It was suggested that the winner of the Molten be the AQ- at that time, no concensus was made.
At the time, it was a concern of some DIII coaches that the expansion of the Final Four to 8 teams and, the inclusion of a DIII team into this field was an attempt by the NCAA to squash an attmpt to create a DIII Championships. (The worry was that the NCAA would argue that DIII didn't need a Championship becusae those teams could compete in the field of 8 teams.)
Finally, while the team's listed as members of the City University of New York Athletic Conference on the first post of this thread do not all show up on the NCAA website as members of the CUNYAC they all do show up as hosting DIII men's volleyball teams. Some of those teams, for example Bernard M. Baruch College (Baruch) are members of the NECVA. It is possible for schools to be member of multiple conferences and therefore, with some paperwork, Baruch could be a CUNYAC schools and this 'rumor' could become fiction.
Regardless, i see the expansion of the championship into 8 teams good for two reasons 1- more teams in the playoffs 2- a DIII school having this chance will REALLY help their recruiting and could make those teams really competitive. "Hey come to our school, if we win our conference, we get to go to the Dance "
