The archers, fencers, field hockey players, team handball players etc. must think we are a bunch of whiners, because our sports get far more coverage than theirs. Field hockey, team handball, and water polo all got full match coverage (from start to finish) today. Volleyball got about 1 1/4 set, from two semi-final matches...

NBC is showing a Tom Brokaw documentary, on the British in WWII, as part of its prime time coverage tomorrow. Will it be shorter or longer than the volleyball coverage?

Wow, I've never heard that story before.... Last week they showed a puff piece on Scottish bagpipes and kilts in prime time. Utterly inane.

NYT article on Destinee Hooker says the Penn State-Texas final was one of the best volleyball matches ever. It doesn't mention that ESPN didn't show the first set because a midseason basketball between Nobody and Who Cares hadn't ended yet.

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN... NBC SUCKS. IT'S THE GOLD MEDAL MATCH AND THEY SHOW ABOUT 40 MIN OF IT. I KNOW THE USA DIDN'T WIN BUT WHAT A JOKE TO ONLY BROADCAST ABOUT 1 TOTAL GAME OF THE GOLD MEDAL MATCH.

That was truly pathetic. Any actual sport should trump discussions of social media in the Olympics.

This is not just NBC. This is USA Volleyball that allows this sport to be treated like a doormat. They simply have NO idea how to promote the sport.

Even with commercials I don't think they made it to 25 minutes.

After game one and at the end of a commercial when they started back during game 4 I truly thought I had fallen asleep. Much to my dismay, after hitting rewind on my DVR I discovered it was NBC that had been napping. HORRIBLE programming decision.

They actually showed only 25 minutes of the match - it started around 11:25 and finished around 11:50. They showed a little more than 3/4's of a set, total. One factor could have been that the U.S. players knew the game wasn't being shown live in the U.S. - what an insult. The Brazilian players knew that EVERYONE was watching in Brazil.
