Not that I know anything about these things, but I imagine if it were an Achilles tear Berg would have been in a LOT more pain. She seemed to walk off the floor just fine.

Well if all else fails -- miyashiro can be the double-sun setter. Put Hodge on the left and use Larson as the serving DS. I'd rather see Logan set with a single sub. Keep Hooker on the floor for maximum carnage.

I think Thompson's setting would be good enough for the US to win with more reps with the starters to work on timing, but I would be concerned about her blocking. I know Berg isn't a big blocker either, but if she isn't able to go, it takes away the option of using the double sub to slow down a hot outside. I know that hasn't done a ton thus far, but it is a nice option to have.

Hugh wouldn't have picked Thompson if he wasn't confident that she could keep USA's play level high if needing to play all 6 rotations

She's walking. I believe our trainers can graft her a robofoot in the next two days!

Whew.... CT survived the test. Congrats to US and also special credit to Turkey, who was playing superb defense.

I hate to say this but Thompson's liability in the front row is more apparent now than ever. It makes me really nervous to think about what might happen when we play Russia/Italy/Brazil.

Well at least Lind can put pressure on her ankle -- able to give Turkeys players high 5's and good game protocol.

I think we will be fine. We go as our defense goes, not as our setting. Thompson will run the show fine and our defense will still get the job done.

Give her a shot of cortisone and tequila. She'll be good to go!

Berg walk over... Nothing s cortisone shot can't fix...right??(is that legal?). We can beat DOM without Berg.

To be honest, against Gamova/Goncharova Berg v. Thompson doesn't make a huge difference. What we need to hope is that CT is keeping good form, so Italy/Japan/China don't go off her right hand into the stands all day.
