who is brazil bringing back to 2016 or are most of them retiring? What do think? Would you still play if you already have gotten two gold medals in your medal collection? Also, Guimaraes has said that he will be leaving the team after the Olympics as well. Anyways, Brazil has lots of talented young players lining up to join the national team.

That was a tough game to watch... and I don't mean because of NBC's poor scheduling.
USA did fine, they didn't make mistakes, but Brazil was on a tear. Their hitters were just finding the seams and just capitalized. USA didn't commit a lot of errors, they just were outgunned that day.
Brazil finished the last 3 games averaging 18+ kills per game, what the US averaging a little less than 12. Brazil's Fe Garay was just playing insane and Jaquiline was just on fire at the right time.
It stinks for USA.
On a side note, I thought Danielle Scott-Aruda played great and should have gotten more court time. She rocked it.
Well, I'll look forward to Rio. Hopefully Destintee Hooker will stay along with Foluke, Megan, Christa, and Jordan.
Hats off to the veterans, Lindsey Berg, Danielle Scott-Aruda, Logan Tom, Nicole Davis, and Tayyiba Haneef-Park.
As for the new setters, Courtney did fine, but it will be great to see what Alisha Glass and/or Carli Lloyd can add to the team.
Hats off to Hugh and the rest of the coaching staff. I love it when he had Logan Tom set and when he also had Lindsey Berg block on the left side to mix it up. He's brilliant. I hope he stays.
GO USA!!!

As i said i have watch matches get away from superior teams at every level. It happens.
Berg is an excellent setter who is as mentally and physically tough as they come.
The program is in excellent shape for the future.
Let the "driveby posters" fire away. Its an emotional moment for many people.
On to the mecurial world of college ball.

Stop fooling yourselves. The USA team is NOT superior than Brazil. Let's consider all positions. OHs are pretty evenly matched; middles are about the same in blocking with Brazil's slightly better in attacking; setters again pretty much even in setting (both are not perfect); Sheilla vs Hooker, Hooker wins in height and power while Sheila wins in speed, ball control and defense. Mentally, the USA is weak, so weak.

USA lost because of their mental breakdown.

Berg is not lucky in decisive matches of important tournaments. Take Villa Cortese and for an example. She was beaten by Carli Lloyd.

Only saw the 15 minutes that was on NBC. Wonder if they would have shown more if USA had won, every game had been deuce, and it had gone five? Or did they say, "We have 15 minutes for volleyball - start editing." So, I can't really comment on who did what in the final match. Was not impressed throughout the tourney with Haneef or Tama. Thought rest of the team performed really well. Really thought this was our tournament. Heavy sigh

Well, this was certainly incredibly dissapointing for USA. Its amazing that even at this level, players and teams can unravel when things start going in the wrong direction. After the start of game 2 you could see how uncomfortable they were. I have no doubt that the US team is the best in the world, but at the end of the day it comes down to performance on that day, and the US didnt deliver. For those critical of Hugh and the roster, Id ask who, of the players who werent in London were you going to put in who would have adressed the "teams" problems in that match? Did anyone play well? The only criticism I may offer would be, clearly they put an enormous amount of stock in the double sub and basically didnt use it much at all, but again, if you didnt take Tamas etc..... who could we have played that would have changed the outcome of this match? The US layed an egg and Brazil was able to capatilize. Its hard to imagine that crushing a team in game 1 could actually hurt you. It did.

I'm surprised to hear that NBC showed as much as they did.

I just want to make sure I'm going on facts instead of personal bias like some people tend to do.

Brazil didnt celebrate like they beat a team they should have. They celebrated a huge and surprising upset. It was both.

Reach.....living up to your avatar! The USA team was the #1 team going into this tourney and for a reason. An excellent group of seasoned Brazilian women seized and opportunity and let it fly. Our girls and coaches never recovered ........it happens. BRAVO AND HUGE CONGRATS TO BRAZIL.....2012 OLYMPIC GOLD. For the record im glad i was wrong on the seriousness and severity of whatever Berg's injury was.
