Nice to see Max Holt playing! Indeed. They could pass better, but they are blocking nice so it saves them in long rallies right now. Transition game is better this time so far, just passing a little meh...

Transition game is better this time so far, just passing a little meh... Agreed. Though the passing hasn't been bad, Shoji can at least work with them, but they need to get the middles going. The biggest thing has been the service errors. I think they're at like 5 already. Update: Well, now the serves are paying off. Holmes can really do damage with his floater.

Also, were they not debating making overhead serve passing illegal? Seen some real mangled balls there ha, and yeah I agree about serving, but they gotta be that aggressive. As long as it does not go to much higher it's ok. EDIT: USA wins set 1 ALOT of blocking tonight. Really good.

5 blocks from Holt in Set 1. He must have been amped for the start!

One thing I've noticed is how nice of a block Kawika puts up. He's obviously not that big but he posts the block in good spots and gets good penetration. Obviously he can be hit over, but if the hitter drags the ball down Kawika seems to make good things happen. It's comforting to know that your setter isn't a liability at the net.

Such great D at the net. 7 blocks that set. I would like to see Shoji go to the middle more.

Matt Anderson on a serving run right now. Really picking France's passing apart. USA up 8-2 at first TTO of set 2.

Even though Kawika set the ball a bit too high for Holt on that swing, I'm glad USA is trying to force the middle attack. Next swing for Holt goes down too
