Finally watching The Kite Runner. Good movie, but wish I'd known more about the story before I had my 7.5yo watch it. We had to do some fast-forwarding. If it's any consolation, I watched Bonnie and Clyde, The Godfather, Deliverance, and The Exorcist before I was age 10. Look how great I turned out. That explains a lot.

Watched yesterday:
Star Wars Ep. 9: Tied the series up nicely. I think it was as good as any of the other new sequels. I will say that I enjoyed Rogue One and Solo, the standalone films a lot more. Looking forward to the other anthology films that are in the works. Great SFX and soundtrack as always, I really liked the broader tone of the soundtrack compared to the older movies. Lots of screechy violins for the Sith instead of just deeper horns.
Pan's Labyrinth: I've had this one on the "to watch" list for a while now. Didn't disappoint. I love dark fairy tales, and the juxtaposition of that with the gritty, cruel world of 1940s Spain was chilling and not comforting like you'd expect from a fantasy movie. Great practical effects, good soundtrack.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (watched on Netflix, available elsewhere also): Enjoyed this film a lot. Very moving story, feel-good ending, and several fascinating and appealing characters. Probably helped that I liked Lily James in Yesterday--she plays the central character in this film. I watched this last night and agree... I thought it was a great story and had several interesting characters on that little island.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Enjoyed it. Did not expect the ending.
Throughout the movie, Brad Pitt looked like Robert Redford from some angles, esp. with the same hair style and sunglasses.

Ooh girl, I finally saw Whiplash. Weird. I can't for the life of me remember if I saw it. I *think* I did.

The Lighthouse
Willem Dafoe, Robert Pattison. This was more of a two-man play than a feature film. And I'm not a fan of the subject matter -- two men slowly go insane while being cooped up on a remote island lighthouse. Also, lots of stuff that'll make your grandma blush.

Ooh girl, I finally saw Whiplash. Weird. I can't for the life of me remember if I saw it. I *think* I did. *spoiler* It's that one movie where this jazz band drummer guy gets hit by a semi bus, but he goes to his performance anyway, covered in blood.

I remember seeing a movie with JK Simmons in it. About drumming. But maybe I dreamed it. I thought Miles Teller was in it too. Nope. I see Paul Reiser was in it. I haven't seen Paul in anything since Mad About You. I have seen LaLa Land, and First Man. So Chazelle is not unknown to me. Who has it? Looks like no one, except for $$.
