Saw Million Dollar Arm yesterday. What a great movie. I laughed, I cried. Need to read the book now. Well, I'm assuming there is a book since it's based on a true story.

Rex Reed hates "Tammy".
It looks horrible to me also.Melissa McCarthy Gives ‘Tammy’ Her All, but It’s Nowhere Near Enough Read more at observer.com/2014/07/melissa-mccarthy-gives-tammy-her-all-but-its-nowhere-near-enough/#ixzz36XuNrrs2 Follow us: @newyorkobserver on Twitter | newyorkobserver on Facebook The good news is that Tammy is not a crappy remake of the 1957 Tammy movie with Debbie Reynolds that spawned three sequels and a TV comedy series. The bad news is that this one is much worse. It’s a desperate and brainless vehicle for Melissa McCarthy, which she wrote herself, with her husband, Ben Falcone, who also directed, with all the efficiency and verve of an abandoned Volkswagen on the Jersey Turnpike. There isn’t a single shred of evidence that either of them has one iota of talent in the world of filmmaking. Tammy is not just a celebration of everything vulgar and stupid in the dumbing down of American movies. It’s a rambling, pointless and labored attempt to cash in on Ms. McCarthy’s fan base without respect for any audience with a collective IQ of 10. And it’s about as funny as a liver transplant.

Rex Reed doesn't really like movies is my impression. Not that he's wrong here; I haven't seen it and it's at 39 at Metacritic. MM's usually pretty funny, however.
Liver transplants can be hilarious.

this has nothing to do with current movies, but xkcd was kind enough to point out to me that the movie "Forrest Gump" came out closer to the Vietnam War than to present day (premiered a little over 20 years ago on July 6, 1994; the fall of Saigon which marked the end of the Vietnam War took place in April 30, 1975... 19 years prior to the movie).
yikes.

Double yikes! Also, I'm now seeing some of my old high school classmates meeting their maker.

I stumbled upon this on YouTube some time last year and enjoyed watching it.
I also just watched the movie "Bad Words" the other night and it was pretty decent. Then again, I do enjoy characters that have an unfiltered type of personality.

Guardians of The Galaxy. Loved it. Really funny, great 80's music.

Guardians of The Galaxy. Loved it. Really funny, great 80's music. As a huge comic book fan, I usually see superhero movies the day they open but I promised my friend I'd wait to go with him and his friends for his birthday...It's been so hard waiting! I also want to see Lucy. Not sure how good it will be, I've heard some unflattering things but I think it could be enjoyable.

I know, fiction and all that, but the "we only use 10% of our brains" thing is SO idiotic that I can't see myself getting past that to enjoy the movie even if it were otherwise good.

Yeah, when I first saw one of the trailers where they used that line and then synced it with a clip of her using telekinesis I questioned it...but afterwards I thought that it could be a fun movie if just watching it for enjoyment and not for realism.

Saw "The Giver" tonight. Liked it. Meryl Streep-best actress ever. Jeff Bridges does this weird thing with his upper lip. Kinda annoyed me the whole movie.

Lucy was horrible. Really lost steam fast. Chef was actually one of the better summer movies I saw.

Watched 3 Days of the Condor last night again. Hadn't seen it in years. Very entertaining and highly recommend it.
Great scenes of NY and the trade centers.
Max Von Sydow is awesome.

Yes, went to another movie tonight. 3 movies this week. Husband chose Into The Storm. Basically Twister on steroids. Lots of flying cars, houses, even airplanes.
