True Detective (s3) Just finished it. Really good. The wife thought it was very sloooow, but her problem is that she's not very patient. I drip with patience. It's a blessing and a curse. I think we took three days to finish the fifth episode because she kept falling asleep. LOL! But she eventually came around. Mahershala Ali and Stephen Dorff, who play the leads, are both fantastic. How did you feel about the first two seasons of True Detective? I seem to be one of the only people who vastly preferred the second season (the noir of the second season is right up my alley, while I didn't particularly care for the supernatural stuff in the first season). I liked the 1st and can barely remember the 2nd. I liked the 3rd a lot.

Supernatural (s14)
Now watching. Ya know, whenever these sci-fi TV shows want to revive a certain dead character, they just create a whole "alternate universe" storyline and voíla, they just pull that character from the alternate universe.

I stopped watching Supernatural regularly after Season 6, I thought Season 1-5 had that narrative drive and the twist and turn of the plot kept me invested in watching the series. But afterwards, not so much.

But afterwards, not so much. Things get better and better. We binge watch entire seasons. That's the best way to watch the series. With so many old characters and storylines constantly coming back, it's hard to keep track. We just pick up, say, the season 13 DVD and watch only that for an entire week.

I forgot that Ray Donovan started again with Season 7. I had forgotten how crazy this show is. What a mess Ray is. Actually the whole family.

Anyone going to watch the Golden Globes? I generally don't care about it...except when Ricky Gervais is hosting. This will be his record 5th time hosting the show (and he claims, to be his last time). There is something about his brutally honest and funny roasts on the stuck up and humor-challenged Hollywood stars and producers that appeals to me:

Hehe, somenes needs to laugh at the powerful and hypocritical. Hollywood is notorious for being two-faced, pretending to be liberal and open-minded except when they revealed to be not.

The monologue is worth the watch. 7 minutes of fun.

The first season was very good. I liked it, even though it was a little dark. Your wife may not like it because one of the main characters is an assassin. However, her acting is excellent. The show has some nice humor built in. I never got around to watching season 2; I got bored a bit. Finished Killing Eve (season 1). Loved it. Jody Comer makes a cool assassin. I've seen her as a child actor in Remember Me and it's hard to picture her as an assassin, but as I said in another thread, anyone can play an assassin. She has a lot of good facial expressions -- often hilarious, other times bizarre. I'm late to the party, but started watching Killing Eve recently at the urging of my daughter who was home for the semester break. I'm really enjoying it. I'm almost done with the first season.

They should've come up with something else like Greek mythology or some lost civilization like Atlantis, Shangri-La, or El Dorado. Also, it wouldn't hurt to transport them out of North America and into some other land.

Since azvb and some others are fans of musical theater, will anyone try to catch the new show on NBC tomorrow, Zoey's Exceptional Playlist? It was promoted on the Golden Globes show in commercials and I had not heard of it before then.

The monologue is worth the watch. 7 minutes of fun. I like when he skewers the Hollywood elite. I just wish the monologue was longer.
