Ugh. Men's qualifier draw is out and Bourne/Hyden will likely have to get by the Brazili.... I mean Qatarians (De J Santos-Santos Pereira). Unlucky draw for sure.
Doherty/Lucena get the winner of Azaad-Bianchi ARG [19] vs. Kufa, R.-Dumek CZE [14]

Day/Ross lose in 2 to Bansley/Paven again.
I watched them a bunch in St. Pete and there was no dynamic athleticism between them. just going through the motions.

It appears one of Pavlik-Fopma has an injury. 2 forfeits.

I don't know if I see that partnership lasting much longer. For each of them, it may be the best. You have thoughts on Pavlik/Fopma lasting much longer?? BTW, all North Americans made it through the Q on the Men's side.

How DID Summer/Day look like the "new new thing" 12 months ago and are flopping now...PS, as CamKerr might agree Bansley, as I noticed at the FIVB Long Beach is the real deal !

To the Canadians again? Wow. I think a big part is expectations. Teams now prepare for Emily/Summer and that exposes some of their weaknesses. They are both good all around players, but their point scoring skills are far from elite. They dont have a blocker like Fopma, Walsh, etc. or a defender like Brooke Sweat, or a lot of the quicker international women. Going forward for Summer that seems like the biggest obstacle to her becoming a top 10 world player. Her hitting will keep getting better, and she could become one of the best sideout players, but what will she bring to the table in terms of scoring?

Whats the chance of partner swapping between Ross/Day and Fopma/Pavlik? Haven't watched Summer that much - how is her blocking? Does it make more sense for her to be a full-time blocker? Maybe pairing her with Carico in the future makes sense. Bummer that Carico's been playing with a bad back most of this season. Hopefully she gets back to 100% soon.

Lot of weird two set spankings going on. Is there a wind or weather issue of some kind? Hyden/Bourne and Doherty/Lucena both putting nasty two set beatdowns on top 10 seeded teams, then Phil and Rosie are both on the giving and receiving end. Stange

Hyden/Bourne also take out Emanuel/Pedro in two. Let's hope they can keep this up, win the pool and get at least a couple elimination round wins.
