Great post. Quite likely Rangerpinkvolley knows the answers to most of these. And, IMO, the elite schools have figured much of this out. Let's assume most of the prospects know they are special and most schools are interested in them. The main problem for a school is to figure out: How can we make them feel that Our School is really special. Coming with that is the challenge Rangerpink presents us: How can we make them feel this is the best school for them? In addition, I particularly like Rangerpink's question: How will the rules change what works? One person's opinion.

Basically: The NCAA made the first official contact dates earlier so more schools can make their 'sales pitch'. - Off-Campus Contacts: From: July 1 following the completion of their Junior Year. To: Aug. 1 - at the beginning of their Junior Year.
Telephone calls to the prospective student-athlete: From: Sept. 15 of their Junior Year. To: June 15 - at the conclusion of their Sophomore Year.

I only have a small look into it, but certainly don't know what coaches are thinking and how they are adjusting their recruiting strategy with the rule changes. I am just so curious about the process. I am sure coaches are unhappy about not being able to see younger talent in person right now. This was prime time to be scouting 2023s and 2024s. What has been the talent pool at the Dream Team Camp in the past few years? How many of each age have they invited?

Is harper murray an elite pin option? Would she be terminal opposite of little kubik.. I dont know if I'm sold just yet with all the options in the 23 class that are available. The only, must get, I can easily see at this time is Bunton. I've seen Harper play a little.... not too sold yet. But she is still a youngling.. lots of time... any observations out there to take a different opinion? She can crank on the ball for her age. Every time I saw Murray play I didn’t see a superstar. She got stuffed a lot. My thinking is if she gets blocked at that level, what’s gonna happen if/when she plays in the B1G? She’s kinda short in stature but she does jump very well. I thought Caroline Jurevicius (another Husker recruit) was better in the small sample I saw. Caroline would be great on the right side for us I think. I thought Julia Blyashov was the only OH that was better. Nebraska loves Blyashov but she has no interest in us. I’ve talked to some contacts who have access to college coaches and they tell me MANY college coaches think Harper Murray is the best player in the whole 2023 class. I couldn’t believe it, how could that be? I must have seen Murray at her absolute worst then. If they tell me Murray’s the best then she IS the best. All opinions of course, I tack that on because some idiot will try to challenge me. Again, just opinions!

They put more weight in physical projection and coachability. Murray 6' and projects to be 6'2" based on her parents and her older sister, yet she moves and jumps like an elite sub-6' player. In Nebraska's case, they've already made their camp evaluation on her. She was at the same dream team camp as the 2021 commmits the summer after 7th grade (when Cook offered her) and again last year the summer after 8th grade. She actually took some of the pics floating around of Nebraska's 2021 recruits at that last camp. She's friends with all of them. At this point, I'd be surprised if she doesn't end up a Husker and fans should be very happy about that.

She's very good right now, and I think she will be a very good libero in college, but I'd bet on Chicoine being the better libero in college when she gets to focus solely on that position. As far as "best at her position", that's great, and I agree Choboy is the best libero in her class right now, but value is still more important, and that's why coqches would rather have the best pins, setters, and middles, before liberos if they had to choose. Same reason NFL teams will draft an '8' at QB before a '10' at any other position.

But she is amazing. Very quick movements.

IMO, Lexi Sun although post high school, is definitely the exception, not the rule. Without your confirmation on Blyashov, I just assumed she was allergic to snow and cold weather. Lol. A softness that permeates much of the state, most of the time. I automatically assume the PAC 12, Texas or maybe the SEC will get the top players in California.

But she is amazing. Very quick movements. Don't apply observations for the general population when you have more highly correlated data available, e.g. Harper's sister grew three inches since she was 16. It's also something we just saw with a Nebraska player, i.e. Madi Kubik, who grew two inches after she turned 17. If the direct family members are tall, and some of them experienced later than normal growth, then assuming the trend is a safer bet. If they wanted, they could just check growth plates, albeit unnecessary. Similar to Rylee Gray, who has grown an inch in the last year.
