Batenhorst enrolling early. That’s three (+ Rodriguez and Orr). I usually try to stay away from hyperbole, but Batenhorst already looks like a legit contender for national high school POY after three matches (fourth match tonight). Do you have reason to think that her team will be dramatically better than last year? Last year they were 26-18, 3rd in league and not in the top 100 in Texas. No shade against her personally, but if they aren't at least near the top in Texas she won't be considered for state, let alone POY national honors. It's very early, but her numbers to this point are nearly the same as last year. What do you see different this year?

They were also young. Batenhorst already was Week 1 player of the week, though it's just a sample size of three matches. It's just a weird year.

Normally you have a pretty good idea of which teams will come out near the top in each state as well as overall, and which players on them will be considered for honors. This year? Who knows?

I'll be in Houston in a couple weeks. I'm going to see if I can catch a match and see her play in person. Not sure if they're limiting outside spectators?

Relevant news while this thread is up here:
Re: Kennedi Orr. Minnesota has reinstated their fall high school volleyball season. Ten-day preseason practice period starting Sept. 28, with first day of competition Oct. 8. I’ll try to snag a schedule for Eagan when it comes out. The season is supposedly 11 weeks with 14 duals, so we’ll see how that plays out...

Yeah, she's had surgery. She was at yesterday's Eagan match with crutches and a brace.

Yeah, she's had surgery. She was at yesterday's Eagan match with crutches and a brace. Wishing her a speedy recovery. At least she'll have access to a great rehab team through Nebraska when she enrolls this Spring semester. This can be a long process, though.

While this sucks, if you’re ever goi g to have this injury, now is the perfect time for her. Best wishes for speedy recovery.
