NIL is like a lot of things in today's society that I wish would go away. But I have no control over that and unfortunately (from my perspective) they are not going away. So I must make the best of it and learn to live with them. Maybe NE could have gotten out front on NIL better, maybe not, I dont know. Is NIL something the school should actively promote? I suspect they will to facilitate recruiting. Is NE? I dont know. I suspect NE facilities are supporting the Nick & Lo podcast, but I don't know. I see NIL opportunities associated with podcasts. Summary: NIL is here. I wish it was not, but it is. The respective roles of athletes, private business and school institutions in the development of NIL for $$ is just developing. Many possibilities exist and many variations will be used. I'll wait and see how it plays out. Hope for the best. Well, there is a HUGE problem that no one wants to broach. . .the NCAA’s NIL rules make it clear, athletes are competing against their schools for money. Schools depend on “officially licensed” apparel sales to fund parts of their athletic budgets. . . At schools like Nebraska this is a lot of money. Virtually ALL of this money is headed directly to the athletes-completely by-passing the schools. Sometime in the very near future, Nebraska volleyball fans will walk into the Nebraska Bookstore and have the OPTION of buying and enriching the Nebraska athletic depatment licensed “Nebraska Volleyball” t-shirt or hoodie OR a t-shirt or hoodie of the same quality and probably from the same company (but not necessarily the same company) with the face or likeness of their favorite Nebraska volleyball players (money will go to student athletes). Sales for Nebraska athletic department apparel without the name, likeness or image of the fans favorite players is going to dry up. Apparel money for athletic departments is about to dry up. . . Everyone might want to keep your eyes on Nike and Oregon student-athletes and the deals they are making. . .this is really going to be destructive to many schools and change the competitive landscape. . . Are the best high school football players going to keep going to Alabama or Clemson if they can sign-on with Nike if the go to Oregon? The shoe and apparel companies are about to take control, more control, of big time college sports. . . This is going to get ugly, and the smart people in the schools know it and the are attempting to keep the student-athletes in the dark as long as possible. Lots going on behind the scenes. . . and nothing much good ever happens to student-athletes when discussions take place behind the scenes. . . ✌️ I think most people will get the school stuff. People that get athlete NIL stuff will be largely in addition to the school stuff. I'm not sure this is a direct competition for $$. Lot of the NIL $$ will be from ad endorsements. I think the bigger issues will be managing inequitable NIL $$ between team mates and distracts for athletes, so consumed by making $$ that they neglect training or lose focus. But NIL is here for better or worse, probably worse IMO,but what do I know.

Nebraska is done for 2023 unless Mendelson wants in. They're still recruiting her, but she's made it clear she's playing both, so she's a freebie for whichever school lands her since she'll be counted as a hoop scholie.
