I wonder if they will try Pierce out at opposite in 2025 if she shows any promise over there. I could see her training behind Merritt some this year, but who knows. Otherwise with Landfair back and Teraya Siglar coming in, it doesn't seem to leave a lot of options for Pierce on left side anytime soon.

Possibly a Soph or Jr for 25? Perhaps or we could get an utr 2025 recruit Perhaps the recruit who was in town for the KSU scrimmage. Given the NIL and program prominence, you’d think the best middle in the portal would be in play. I’d prefer that over an under the radar 2025 high school recruit. A top middle in 2026 is a must anyway.

Honestly I lose track of what everyone knows and doesn't know, so posting this in case it's news: Ryan Hunter posted a goodbye to club volleyball on instagram. I would assume that means she'll be enrolling early at Nebraska next year. Correct I believe all of the 2025s will be enrolling early next year.

With it only being 6 weeks away, in addition to the middles being mentioned, the pool of 2026 candidates includes:
Henley Anderson, 6'2 outside hitter from Texas Ayanna Watson, 6'3 outside hitter from Las Vegas Halle Thompson, 6'0 outside hitter from Texas Gabriella Divita, 6'2 outside hitter from Michigan (Legacy)

Not that I blame Nebraska for recruiting the best state in the country more than their own, but it does seem like NE has really cooled off lately on their in state recruiting. 0 in 2023, 1 DS in 2024, and 1 DS in 2025. Do Nebraska fans care, or is that “homegrown husker” pride not quite as prevalent anymore? I know there’s some 2026 talent but I do not know if they are prioritizing any of them from what I’ve seen.

I mean the talent pool is obviously much bigger in a state like Texas. The population is 15 x the size of Nebraska. So Texas is not often going to have a year where there aren't elite top recruits near the top of the list from their own backyard. Nebraska prep has produced some great players over the years, but the priority for Husker fans is the success of the Husker program and if that means the best available players happen to be from outside the state of 2 million people, so be it. They shouldn't settle. What's important is that they don't lose out on the in-state recruits they do want. Players like Mauch and Leimbach are great additions to the program and will continue the backbone of Nebraska volleyball with their backrow play.

This all makes sense, jwvolley, but it does seem that the in-state talent for front row players has diminished somewhat. I mean where are the next Larsons or Rolfzens?
