Oh nice get, congratulations. Given the timing, I assume she's a walk on - which is kinda crazy, a NTDP walk-on She was a decommit from Northwestern, so that's the reason for the timing. As someone with the grades for Northwestern, I would imagine she could easily get an academic scholarship for Nebraska She’s very talented, I was watching for her to potentially look elsewhere once Northwestern went through the coaching change. But why couldn’t she be on athletic scholarship, is Nebraska full? I know they were after Harvey in 2025 so I don’t imagine that’s the case.

This is a tough blow for Northwestern. Her commitment was an absolute steal.

My Kids played with/against Manaia for years. Great kid, great family. She wanted Northwestern for academics. The scandals probably soured her regarding NW. Obviously as a NTDP kid she can fit in at any program. Good for her and looking forward to watching her play.

With the departures of Jerivicious, Kubik, and Mendleson, my guess is they have at least 2 available scholarships in 2025. Didn't her dad play football at Stanford? I recall hearing rumors 🎄 was the desired school. Having committed to Northwestern, this move to Nebraska is an odd fit. She's good, no doubt, but Nebraska isn't exactly Stanford/NW.

Five moving on after 2024, four commits prior so their would seem to be room for one. If she's indeed on academic scholarship, that could still allow for one more in 2025. I would expect a grad transfer opposite out of the portal to compete with Hunter in 2025 would be high of the list of likely uses.

Yes, father played DE at Stanford. They wanted NW for their business programs. Manaia is going to do great regardless of what school she attends. No, Neb is not stanford or NW, but it's a solid school and it positions her better for volleyball. I like the move. Go Manaia.

I would be surprised, but at the same time scholarships allotments can be foggy for sure with academic options and NIL factoring in.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, Manaia's aunt Kaego Ogbechie, was a pretty good volleyball player at Harvard.

And a Northwestern commit. The Northwestern decommitments are adding up !!! Do you think their new coach pulled scholarships from verbals? Who else decommitted? Shane Davis really left a mess for Nollan to clean up.

NE has a good business school. Add in the hands on experience managing her NIL business opportunities, and if she arrives in January, she can graduate in 3 yrs, she will be off to a great start on her business career, which dovetails well with a professional VB career.

I don't think the (putatively pro-Nebraska) writer realized how shady this is:
