My grok from what information came out of the Asia trip is that Hunter has a much better connection with the middles than Pollmiller and therefore sets them better.
Soooooooo, I'll be curious to see who wins the starting setter job or if it's even an open competition.

I looked for a thread with a similar generic title for the 2014 season and didn't find one. By creating this thread, I am hoping this will be sort of an all inclusive thread where all discussions regarding the upcoming season can be held. It seems as though Nebraska leads the league in the number of threads on VT, and as that's somewhat irritating even to me, I would imagine it's even more so for non-Husker fans. THANK YOU! I've said the entire time that it's most likely the staff writers at the Nebraska newspapers that are the idiots who post incessant threads for publicity and page hits/counts. If your idea works I'll definitely gain more respect for the Husker fans, posters and the program itself.

Saw this posted on journalstar.com, thought I'd share it in the 2014 thread
Amber Rolfzen looking for more growth in second season
"“Amber has to score points, blocking and hitting. The other thing is she’s got to want the ball on big points. She’s got to be a big point scorer and thrive in that role.” (Cook)It’s likely that Amber Rolfzen will remain in the right-side position this season, but the Huskers also need a strong option at outside hitter along Kadie Rolfzen. Other options at both positions include juniors Alicia Ostrander and Kelsey Fien and freshmen Maddie Haggerty, Olivia Boender and Annika Albrecht. Amber Rolfzen said she’s fine wherever Cook wants her. She became more comfortable playing the right side as the season went."

They hit a good ball on the RS based on the video's from china. did you see them? They both just took good swings from out there. Good enough to make a big impact on a high level, I thought. I actually thought Fien had a much better efficiency swinging from the RS. The offense seemed to sometimes flip Amber and Fien for a play or two. She swung good out there, on the L2 she was getting roofed all night long. Every time the ball came to her I would cringe..... I think she hit negative that match. When Amber would get a rare opportunity on the OH, she terminated with authority. I just think we need another stud out there and she could accomplish this. Especially, if Pollmiller is running the offense. The middle's won't be as effective, and we are going to need a very strong, L2. Ostrander and Fien would work good out there. Amber also has a lot of hitting errors on the RS. I think it might make sense to flip them. BUT............ 'm no expert here and I am not in practice and seeing things like their coaches can. Just a friendly observation from the bleachers.

Do any of the Nebraska insiders know if they are going to sell any non-season tickets soon?

Omg I was waiting for redincolorado to make his own thread about this. I know he's more of a regurgitator of the JStar but I think you beat him to this!

I think he would have started a new thread! GO HUSKERS I have really changed my opinion about the Huskers. There's something to be said when all of Cook's OHs are getting it done in all 6 rotations. Most schools sub out their hitters in the back row, so I was surprised to see that it was Dani Mancuso (2006) when they last used a back-row sub for a left-side hitter. For the future of USA volleyball, I wish more coaches valued developing their players into 6-rotation starters and took risks doing so, instead of taking the easy way out and subbing them in and out.

Anyone suspect Hunter will end up garnering AA honors and have a shot at the NT? She won the Andi Collins award as a pure setter, and I know some of the top setters have garnered that going into college.

Do any of the Nebraska insiders know if they are going to sell any non-season tickets soon? It won't be too much longer. 402-472-3111 is the # for the ticket office. I'm pretty sure they'd tell you if you call.

There's a reason why Larson and Robinson are on the NT and Kadie Rolfzen will probably be a future starter on the NT. Cook not only works on developing them as 6-rotation players, but he also specifically recruits players capable of it. Everyone loves the big-time terminator, and with the sub rules in college maybe recruiting them is the smarter move, but I appreciate an OH that can do it all.
